Sonam Offered Rs 4 Lakh To 'Supari Killers', Raised It To Rs. 20 Lakh To Kill Husband On Honeymoon

Meghalaya's honeymoon case, which was started after a couple went missing, soon unravelled into the killing of the husband by his newly married bride. Raja Raghuvanshi's family, who were celebrating the arrival of their new bahu, within a month, their life turned tragic as their son died in a murder allegedly planned by his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon trip.

How much Sonam gave to supari killers to execute the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi?

As per a report by NDTV, Sonam Raghuvanshi has planned the whole murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi. She lured him to the hills in Meghalaya, where the attackers were already waiting for him. Now, the reports claim that Sonam initially offered Rs. 4 lakh for her husband's murder and then raised the amount to Rs. 20 lakh.

The killers first met the couple in Bengaluru, where they had taken a connecting flight to the northeast. The Shillong police sources also revealed that Sonam had planned a one-way ticket to Meghalaya. While her boyfriend, Raj, stayed in his hometown, he did the whole execution behind the scenes and was in constant touch with Sonam.

For the unversed, days after the body of Indore businessman, Raja was found near Weisawdong Falls in Sohra, Sonam was initially reported to be missing. Later, she was found at a roadside eatery in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. She is now in police custody for orchestrating Raja's murder during their honeymoon. Four people, including her beau, Raj, are also under custody in connection with the case.

According to CCTV footage, Sonam was seen talking to the three hitmen around 10 kilometres away from the crime scene. On May 25, 2025, Sonam travelled from Shillong to Indore via Siliguri by train. According to the police, she met her alleged lover, Raj, and they stayed in a rented accommodation in Indore. Later, she was dropped off in Uttar Pradesh, and she reached Ghazipur via Varanasi. It was in Ghazipur that Sonam was detained by the local police, and was found at a dhaba.

For those who don't know, the weapon used to murder, Raja Raghuvanshi was purchased near the Guwahati railway station. Police found out that Sonam wasn't posting any pictures of her and Raja during their honeymoon trip, which raised suspicions about her. However, police's doubt about her got stronger was a post from Raja's social media account right after his murder, which read, "Saat Janmon ka saath." 

During the entire operation, Raj was continuously in touch with Sonam over the phone. The three contract killers, Akshay, Vishal and Anand, were in Shillong, where the couple was enjoying their honeymoon. The murder was carried out after Sonam lured her husband onto a deserted road in Cherrapunji. After carrying out the murder, the four accused when from Shillong to Assam's Guwahati for a day and left together before separating.
