Bollywood actor Govinda ruled the 90s with his comic timing, on-screen charm, and good looks. At his peak, his stardom had reached such heights that Govinda would simultaneously work on 4-5 films. However, his hectic work schedule worked against him, as it resulted in him being late to sets rather frequently. Over the years, many of Govinda's coworkers, from actors to producers, have opened up about the actor's tardiness. Shakti Kapoor is the latest in line, revealing the change in Govinda since his peak. According to Shakti, the actor who once showed up 12 hours late now arrives on set before time. His comment further sparked a debate about professionalism among netizens.
In an earlier interview with Bollywood Bubble, Shakti Kapoor, who had frequently worked alongside Govinda, reflected on how the actor had changed over the years. According to Shakti, the most noticeable change in Govinda was his punctuality. Elaborating on the same, he said:
"Earlier, he would arrive at 9 pm for a 9 am shift. Now, he arrives at 8:30 am for a 9 am shift." He added, “Insecurity has taken a man far and wide. Now he is very professional and the entire industry knows it."
Recently, an image of Shakti Kapoor's quote about Govinda was shared on Reddit with a very pointed headline that read, "Attitude aukaat anusaar." The post further sparked a debate about Govinda's professionalism, with many attributing his downfall to his tardiness. One user penned, "Stay humble before life humbles you down," while another wrote, "Imagine how much producers' money he must have wasted." Yet another user commented, "Govinda's stardom in the 90s was truly something else, but his attitude became the reason for his downfall. "One commenter even joked, "Isko ek din pehle ka data bata ke kyun nahi rakhte the? I mean that would have solved a lot of problems."

Not too long ago, Ram Kapoor sat down for a candid chat on the Let's Talk With DevnaG podcast, during which he discussed the change in actors' professionalism over the years. He stated that back then, many actors really 'treated themselves like stars.' While tactfully avoiding mentioning names, Ram elaborated that an actor he once worked with had kept an entire set of 80 people waiting in Switzerland for two days. He even mimicked the actor's manager saying that the actor hadn't taken a flight that day and would take one the next day. In an earlier interview with Friday Talkies On Youtube, the producer attributed Govinda's downfall partly to his tardiness . Pahlaj revealed that although he shared a great connection with Govinda, working with him meant being shrouded in uncertainty. The producer elaborated:
"He would sign dozens of B-grade and C-grade movies without a second thought. He'd be working on five or six movies at the same time; nobody would know where he was. He was constantly late and would lie. He Said he was doing it for the money, and I told him that this is a dangerous way of thinking. He did things that were against the profession."
