'Selling Sunset' Star, Emma Hernan Friendship With Chrishell Turned Sour Due To Boyfriend, Blake?

Selling Sunset is back on Netflix after a successful eight seasons. Adam DiVello created the American reality TV series that revolves around the Oppenheim Group. It is a luxury brokerage company in Los Angeles, known for selling multi-million-dollar homes to wealthy clients. The show is all about them navigating friendship, rivalries, and drama. 

As the ninth season of the show is all set to stream on Netflix from November 5, 2025, it follows the feud between once close friends Emma Hernan and Chrishell Stause's feud. While fans were left shocked as the eighth season ended on a positive note for them, something happened behind the scenes as they drifted apart, and it seemingly happened due to Emma's boyfriend, Blake Davis.

Why did Emma and Chrishell end their friendship?

For those who don't remember, the eighth season of Selling Sunset saw the cracks in the friendship of Emma and Chrishell. It all stemmed from Emma's relationship with her then-new boyfriend, Blake Davis. However, by the end of season eight, Chrishell and Emma were back on good terms, and the latter decided to break up with Blake.

However, off-camera, things were different from how they were portrayed in the show. Emma went back to Blake, which Chrishell didn't like, as she claimed her boyfriend made derogatory comments about her and her partner, G Flip. 

Chrishell calls out Emma's boyfriend, Blake, and claims he had a lot of red flags

In an interview with Variety, Chrishell discussed her falling out with Emma. She revealed that fans get a glimpse into Blake's personality, a lot of which was 'left out' of the show. Chrishell revealed that when she met Blake, there were so many red flags that happened in one short meeting. She said:

"When I met him, there were so many red flags that happened in one short meeting. Sometimes you meet someone and you may not like the way they dress, or they may rub you the wrong way because they’re a little awkward. I found real things to be dangerous with his personality."

Chrishell further stated that Blake mentioned he made mean remarks about him, and she doesn't find him normal. She also claimed that he was not like that on camera, and acted another way towards her. She shared:

"Anybody who meets this man is not going to want their friend to date him. Of course, he wasn’t like that on camera. He acted one way to me. Then, he came on camera and flipped the script."

Chrishell further stated that Blake's behaviour was extremely problematic towards her and her boyfriend. She revealed that Blake compared people being nonbinary to mental illness, and it was a direct dig at her partner. She said:

"In the beginning, he was nice to me. He just would say these extremely problematic things. I have a deep core issue with people who think that way, so it was upsetting. Even though he was being nice, he compared people being nonbinary to mental illness. That’s my partner, whom I love dearly."

Chrishell added that she found it 'frustrating' that Emma continued her relationship with Blake even after she showed concerns about his behaviour. She stated that initially she sympathised with her and wanted to be there for her. Chrishell added that when Emma called her after a breakup with Blake, her after a breakup with Blake and revealed all the worst things she did to her. While she stood by her during the tough times, Emma decided to rekindle her relationship with Blake. Emma posted from Blake's yacht and stopped answering her call.

Chrishell stated that at first she thought Emma was innocent, but later she realised that the two of them were in it together, and that was her choice when she decided to go back to Blake and end their friendship. She even stated that Emma stopped talking to Chelsea Lazkani. 

Chrishell finds Blake's proposal to Emma suspicious 

Further, in the interaction, Chrishell talked about Blake's surprise proposal to Emma. She stated that it wasn't a surprise for her. She added that it's the playbook that if somebody does something terribly wrong and fears losing their girl, they try to make it up for it. They do something big like a 'proposal'. 

Chrishell called it a tried and tested scenario. Recalling Emma's last conversation, she stated that when she told her at the end of season eight that they had broken off, she believed it was for good. However, at the end of the reunion that they got back together.

Chrishell on getting back with Emma

When questioned if Chrishell thinks that she would get back with Emma, she responded with a big no. She stated that she doesn't want to be friends with her anymore, as they do not align and have different morals. She admitted that Emma decided to break up with Blake after Chrishell publicly announced the former's boyfriend's remark to her partner. 

It is worth mentioning that Emma has not yet addressed the feud and Chrishell's allegation about why their friendship ended.
