Patriotic films always manage to strike a chord with audiences, and Dharma Production's upcoming film, Sarzameen, is all set to entertain the audience. It stars talented actors like Kajol, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan in the lead roles. The unique combination of the cast has sparked curiosity and a new debate online. At the same time, Sarzameen marks the second outing of Ibrahim after a lukewarm response to his work in his debut film, Nadaaniyan. So, this film is being looked at as a second chance for the star kid to leave his mark.
Sarzameen's teaser was released on JioHotstar's YouTube channel which has become the new talk of B-town. The 1-minute and 30-second teaser takes audiences on a serious ride. Beginning with a glimpse of Malayalam superstar, Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is seen in the role of a brave Army officer, the film quickly shifts towards the high-intense action in the mountains. He is seen dressed in a crisp uniform, and his dialogue, "Bohot badi galti kardi hai tumne. Maine pehle bhi kaha tha, Sarzameen ki salamati se badhkar mere liye kuch nahi", sets the tone for a film dipped in nationalism.
Every frame with Prithviraj Sukumaran brings attention to his commanding presence. However, Kajol's entry adds a mystery because her role is still unclear. Her presence reflects strength, emotion and depth. At the same time, her serious look hints that the stakes are high. The actress speaks nothing in the teaser, but her expressions reflect a strong demeanour which has left the fans excited.
Ibrahim Ali Khan was seen as a college lover boy in his debut film, Nadaaniyan, where he was criticised for his acting, voice and looks. In contrast, he seemingly plays the role of a terrorist in Sarzameen. Unlike his boyish avatar seen by fans, the actor appears all bulked up and bearded for his dark and intense role in the film. Though he has no lines in the teaser, his body language and looks have already started a new debate on the internet. In a dramatic closing shot, Ibrahim's character held Prithviraj Sukumaran at gunpoint which hints that we could see a direct combat between the two.
When the teaser of Sarzameen was released, fans expressed their happiness to Prithviraj Sukumaran in a mainstream Bollywood film as a hero. At the same time, his pairing with Kajol, who seems to be on a roll after her commendable performance in Maa, has raised the expectations for the film. However, Ibrahim, who received criticism for his debut has left the internet divided. Some netizens are excited to see him in a new role while others were unhappy to see him feature in the film after Nadaaniyan's negative reviews. One user commented, "Last mein Ibrahim Ali Khan ka entry kya jabardaast laga, ekdum fire." While another netizen penned, "This shows even if you fail the first time, there will always be a next chance and another chance to fail if you are a star kid."
