Puducherry-Based Model, San Rechal Ends Her Life At 26 After Consuming Pills, Last Note Recovered

In a shocking turn of events, San Rechal, who was also known as Sankara Priya Gandhi, committed suicide at the mere age of 26. The model, who was known for her bold stance against colourism, got married only a year ago, and the way she died raised concerns about the rising mental health issues, which led so many people to take the drastic step. Not many details about San Rechal's demise had been known so far, and the investigations had been going on. It was reported that she had consumed a whole lot of either sleeping or BP pills on June 6, 2025.

San Rechal dies of kidney failure days after attempting suicide by consuming pills

San Rechal, who was known as Sankara Priya Gandhi broke all the stereotypes against the obsession for fair complexion in the glamour world. She had established a name for herself in her modelling career as well as on social media. Her demise came as a shock to many. It was reported that San Rechal consumed pills on June 6, 2025, after which, she was reportedly admitted to a Government hospital, but later, she was shifted to a private hospital, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research. She survived all these days, but later on July 12, 2025, she succumbed to kidney failure and was declared dead.

Investigators reportedly revealed to NDTV that San Rechal was seemingly going through financial difficulties and sold gold jewellery to support her profession, including fashion events. As per the reports, she even asked her father for financial help, but he refused, citing his duties to his son. Rechal was residing in her father's house, wherein she took the drastic step of ending her life and consumed pills to end her life. A suicide note was recovered from her, wherein she held no one to blame for her drastic step to end her life. San Rechal reportedly was under mental stress and financial crunch, which led her to consume the pills.

For the unversed, San Rechal got married a year ago to a man named Sathya. While little is known about their relationship, investigations are ongoing to determine if there was any marital pressure on San Rechal. In her suicide note, she reportedly didn't hold her in-laws and husband responsible for her suicide, but a Tahsildar-level probe has been launched to check whether there had been any unresolved issues in her recent marriage to Sathya. Her body had been sent for a post-mortem report, while the Urulayanpet police have registered a case about the same.

Apart from voicing the colourism in the industry, San Rechal was one of the brightest stars. She represented India at the Miss Africa Golden pageant in South Africa in 2023. Apart from that, she was crowned as the Miss Best Attitude 2019, Miss Dark Queen Tamil Nadu 2019, and Queen of Madras 2022, among others. Recently, on Women's Day, she was awarded the RUNWAY MASTERY award from IRAIVI AWARDS by VASCO. On social media, she had quite a large audience with 181K followers.
