Sidhartha Mukherjee, who is also grabbing attention as 'Sammy Mukherjee' and his wife, Sunita reportedly came abroad, seeking asylum. In the North Texas social circles, Sammy and Sunita have been quite famous. The couple reportedly used to host Bollywood-style musical events there.

On their social media handles, mainly Facebook, the couple has almost 50,000 followers, and their wall is filled with photos featuring celebrities, including Hema Malini and Ayushmann Khurrana, among others. According to reports, in Texas, Sammy is known as a Bollywood singer. Sammy's alleged arrest warrant claims him to be a 'prolific fraudster', and he also reportedly has a history of fraud in Mumbai.

How did Sammy and Sunita scam over 100 people using a government organisation's name in fake invoices and documents?

Sidhartha and Sunita's glamorous lives surely made people believe that they are authentic people. The duo posed as wealthy entrepreneurs who were into real estate. They allegedly lured several people from their community into investing a hefty sum of money in a real estate project, while promising huge profits. As it turned out, all of it was fake. The couple provided the victims with paperwork, remodelling contracts, and invoices that they forged with the name of Dellas Housing Authority, which made people believe that the couple had a legitimate project in their hands. However, when the profit cheques started bouncing, it raised concerns among people.

For the unversed, the first investigation began when a couple claimed to have lost a whopping 325,000 US dollars, prompting investigators to look into the matter. Following this, the case was handed over to the FBI, and recently it's been reported that Sammy and Sunita are currently being held at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility. If the charges were proven to be right, then the couple might have to spend 5 to 99 years in prison, depending on the trial. To mention, Sammy and Sunita reportedly denied all the allegations that have been heaped upon them. Reportedly, the investigators are finding proof that the couple is transforming the money into their Cryptocurrency accounts. The scam is reportedly of USD 4 million, i.e Rs. 33 crores.

Some more serious allegations against Sammy Mukherjee and Sunita Mukherjee

Apart from the real estate scam, some more serious allegations were heaved upon Sammy and Sunita. The couple reportedly sent threatening emails to the elderly persons, thereby forcing them to make immediate investments, with the threat to have them arrested if not done. They also reportedly took advantage of PPP during the pandemic by showcasing false employee lists and payroll details. If the reports are to be believed, Sammy and Sunita also filed for bankruptcy in 2024, and an investigation into the same has been going on as of now.
