Salman Khan is one of the most successful actors in Bollywood. Despite his stardom, Salman often falls prey to controversies, both in his personal and professional lives. Moreover, his father and noted screenwriter, Salim Khan has always been protective of his son and defended the latter every time he was embroiled in controversy. Though Salim was heavily criticised for his actions, he ensured that his son realised his wrongdoings and apologised for them.
Once, in an old interview with Zoom, Salim Khan recalled an incident in which his son, Salman Khan had a brawl with director, Subhash Ghai at a party. The filmmaker revealed that when Salman had slapped Subhash, he asked his son to seek an apology. The veteran screenwriter also shared that the fight took place due to excess alcohol and Salman regretted it. In his words:
“After the fight, the next morning when I was having my tea, he came to me and told me about the incident. I asked him if he realised it was his mistake, and he admitted that he was at fault and blamed alcohol for the fight. I advised him to pick up the call and apologise to Subhash, and he did it.”

Moreover, in an old report in Lehren, published in 2002, Salman Khan also confessed to slapping Ghai at a party and revealed that he apologised the next day. Elaborating the same, he shared that the filmmaker hit him with a spoon, almost broke a plate on his face, urinated on his shoes, and grabbed him by the neck. Salman added all this made him lose his cool and said:
“I have hurt myself all over. I cannot hurt anyone else. I have only hit Subhash Ghai. Yet, I apologised to him the next day. That person hit me with a spoon, almost broke a plate on my face, urinated on my shoes, and grabbed me by the neck. I couldn’t control myself. And look what happened. The next day, I had to go and apologise.”
Subhash Ghai, who later collaborated with Salman Khan in the film, Yuvraaj, also once talked about his brawl with the actor. He shared that the day after the fight, Salman visited him and acted like a guilty child. The filmmaker further added that Salman had told him that his father, Salim Khan, asked him to apologise to the former. In his words:
“Salman came and stood in front of me like a guilty child. I smiled and asked him, ‘What happened to you last night?’ and he said, ‘I have come here because my father told me to do so.’ I said, ‘So you are not sorry?’ and he replied, ‘Of course I am.’ That’s how we broke the ice.”
