Salman Khan is one of the most popular actors in Bollywood. Just like the other Khans, Salman also has many fans. Amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, a tweet made by Salman is facing extreme backlash from netizens. The actor broke his silence on the Indo-Pak tensions after the countries announced a ceasefire. Immediately after the tweet, netizens strongly reacted to it, which led Salman to delete the tweet.
For the uninitiated, the tensions between India and Pakistan started with the Pahalgam attack on April 22, 2025, which took 26 innocent lives. Following the attack, India gave a befitting response with Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025. After fighting for four days, India and Pakistan announced an immediate ceasefire. However, shortly after the two countries agreed to a ceasefire, Bollywood actor, Salman Khan took to his X handle (formerly Twitter) on May 10, 2025 and expressed his relief over the ceasefire agreement. But, the tweet didn’t go well with the netizens and resulted in heavy criticism against the actor. The extreme public outrage made Salman delete the tweet. The now-deleted tweet can be read as:
“Thank god for the ceasefire….”
Immediately, after Salman posted the tweet on his X handle(formerly Twitter), netizens rushed to the comment section to share their opinions. Many users slammed the actor for commenting on the ceasefire while remaining completely silent on the Pahalgam attack, the Indian Army’s precision strike and the India-Pakistan war. The comments flooded in, suggesting that Salman appeared to be more concerned with Pakistan’s welfare than with showing concern for India. The extreme backlash made the actor delete the tweet, though screenshots are still going viral. As of now, Salman has not yet issued any official clarification on the matter.
After Salman Khan deleted the ceasefire tweet, many came forward to criticize him. A netizen tweeted, “ The so called bhai.....being human and what not.....in the last 4 days, all he could care for was about the ceasefire.... He deleted the post but now we know what needs to be done to his movies.” Another X user wrote, “Spineless Salman Khan, who was silent during #OperationSindoor did a tweet on ceasefire and deleted the tweet. Shame on you, Bhoi..” A fan wrote, “Being your crazy fan, I only have a request that instead of tweeting after 3 days saying “Thank God on Cease Fire” and then deleting it when you came to know that Pakistan started the attack again. You should support INDIA, your country!” There was a tweet in support of Salman. The fan tweeted, “Just after his tweet, the news came that Pakistan violated the ceasefire. So he deleted that tweet. Now tell me what is Salman Khan's mistake here?"
