Marriages are not a ceremony anymore, it has become an extravaganza event. From fusion weddings to themed weddings at expensive resorts and hotels, the bride and groom take centre stage with their designer clothes and opulent jewellery. The guest no more receives a simple card, instead, they get glossy multi-paged, stone-studded, professionally designed leaflets, which take you through elaborately planned programs, and only a close reading reveals when the actual pheras will take place.
In the old times, it used to be a simple and lightweight laal shaadi ka joda for the brides, and a minimalistic dhoti and plain white shirt for the grooms. However, with changing times, bride and groom have started to wear coordinated designer outfits, handpicked from the shelves of celebrity designers, to feel a bit more special on their big day. And the bride of the week, Rupy Johal, is no different, as she opted for a beautiful Sabyasachi lehenga.

The bride, Rupy Johal, ditched the traditional route and opted for a different-hued lehenga which is not red. She picked a gorgeous colour contrast silk lehenga from the shelves of Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The green embroidered zardosi skirt came with pretty floral work all over it. On the other hand, the ivory-coloured choli featured a round neckline and sequins at the hem.
The bride knew exactly how to stand out in a green lehenga. Hence, instead of choosing a similar hued dupatta, she picked an ivory organza dupatta with embroidery work on its border. She elegantly put the dupatta on her crown area and tucked the other part as her pallu.

The gorgeousness chose to wear minimalistic yet pretty diamond jewellery. For her big day, she carried a diamond-studded choker, a pair of drop earrings and a simple maang teeka. But, a Punjabi bride’s look is incomplete without her chooda and kaleeras. Hence, Rupy also styled her red chooda and golden kaleeras in the best manner. Moreover, she donned nude makeup and looked beautiful. On the other hand, his groom complemented her in a white sherwani and in a matching green shawl.
We loved her Sabyasachi green and ivory lehenga! What about you?
