Who Is Robo Shankar's Daughter, Indraja? Commerce Grad, Actress, Married To Childhood Pal And A Mom

The Tamil film industry is left in mourning after the sudden demise of popular comedian-actor Robo Shankar at the age of 46. The actor passed away in Chennai after he collapsed on the set and was reportedly rushed to a private hospital. Despite intensive medical care, his condition worsened, and he breathed his last on Thursday, September 18, around 8:30 pm. Robo Shankar had won hearts for his impeccable comic timing, 'robo-style dance moves', and image of a simple family man. His untimely demise has left his wife, Priyanka, and daughter, Indraja, grieving. 

Who is Robo Shankar's daughter, Indraja Shankar?

Indraja Shankar, the only daughter of Robo Shankar, has been making her mark in the entertainment industry. She made her film debut in 2019 with Vijay's blockbuster Bigil. In the film, she played the character of 'Pandiyamma', a spirited women's football player. Her natural screen presence and charm won her recognition. Next, she stepped into Telugu cinema with Paagal in 2021, where she played one of Vishwak Sen's love interests and appeared in the hit song Ee Single Chinnode. In 2022, she returned to Tamil cinema with Viruman, continuing to prove her versatility as a performer.

Apart from films, Indraja has explored television and digital platforms. She was a contestant in Survivor (Tamil Season 1). On the show, fans got to witness her determination and competitive streak. In January 2024, she launched her YouTube channel, Ungal Pandiyamma, wherein she features personal vlogs, family celebrations, and behind-the-scenes glimpses into her life. Through the medium, Indraja has built a strong connection with her followers. Additionally, in March 2025, she completed her Bachelor of Commerce. 

Indraja Shankar is married to her childhood sweetheart, Karthick

Indraja's personal life has been just as eventful as her career. On February 2, 2024, she got engaged to her childhood sweetheart and longtime friend, Karthick. He works as a director and business development head at Easy Cinema. Soon, they tied the knot in a traditional Hindu wedding held in Chennai on March 24, 2024. Soon, in the latter half of 2024, the couple made a stint in Mr. and Mrs. Chinnathirai Season 5 and announced they were expecting their first child. On January 20, 2025, Indraja welcomed a baby boy with her husband. Her mom, Priyanka Shankar, celebrated the occasion by tattooing her grandson's name on her hand, which was admired by fans.

Why did Robo Shankar die? 

Robo Shankar and Priyanka shared 22 years of togetherness, filled with love and respect. Priyanka often expressed her affection for her husband in emotional social media posts, and Indraja referred to him as 'appa' in her posts. Robo Shankar's health declined in recent months after recovering from jaundice. Reports suggest he later developed kidney complications, leading to his sudden collapse and death.
