Royal Challengers Bengaluru created a history as they won IPL 2025, and lifted the winner's trophy after 18 years. While Virat Kohli was left in tears, the team's fanbase was also overjoyed and gathered near the Chinnaswamy Stadium to be a part of the team's victory parade. Thousands of fans were seen being present during RCB's parade. The crowd kept increasing, and in the end, it resulted in a tragic stampede.
Initially, it was reported that 8 people lost their lives soon after they were taken to a nearby hospital. Later, 11 people's demise was reported, along with the information about 33 people being severely injured. Amid the increasing tension, recently, RCB's marketing head was reportedly detained by the Bengaluru police.
As per several reports, Nikhil Sosale, the marketing head of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, was arrested on June 6, 2025. Allegedly, he was on the way to arrive in Mumbai secretly, following the tragic stampede that claimed 11 lives. Nikhil was associated with RCB as a marketing and revenue head at Diageo India. He is currently being interrogated by the authorities about his connection to the incident that happened following the team's win. Along with Nikhil, three employees of the event management company, DNA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. were also arrested by the police.
Following the stampede, an FIR was lodged in the Cubbon Park Police Station against RCB, the event management company and Karnataka State Cricket Association. Nikhil and the event management company reportedly collaborated to promote the social media post about the victory parade of the team. The post garnered millions and millions of views, resulting in the fans arriving near the stadium to witness Virat Kohli and the team with the trophy. Well, it was also claimed in reports that the event was organised without permission and approval from the city police authorities, which resulted in an overcrowded situation.
Later, investigations confirmed that no police permission was given to organise the victory parade, making it unauthorised. In addition to this, KSCA secretary, Shankar reportedly asked for permission about the event from commissioner, Dayananad, which was denied for safety concerns. However, despite this, the event was organised, posing questions about public safety protocols being followed by RCB. Reportedly, police reached the KSCA secretary and event coordinator's residences, but they were not present there. Reports suggested that the mentioned individuals are on the run currently.
