Tekashi 6ix9ine (real name, Daniel Hernandez) is back in the news, but this time, not for his music. He is facing legal troubles after being found guilty of multiple violations of his supervised release. A Manhattan judge ordered the rapper to another period of detention, generating buzz online. 6ix9ine's fans want to know exactly what happened that led to his current plight. Amid the buzz surrounding his arrest, curiosity has been sparked regarding his personal life, particularly his deceased girlfriend, and the mysterious circumstances surrounding her passing.
Tekashi 6ix9ine's girlfriend, Ariela Mejia-Polanco, known as Ariela La Langosta, died untimely at the age of 33, four months before his jail sentence. She was a Dominican influencer, model, and bartender in New York City, who had over 550,000 followers on Instagram. She appeared as a dancer in Tekashi 6ix9ine's 2023 music video for the song, Wapae. Ariela tragically passed away from unnatural causes on August 17, 2025, after succumbing to gunshot wounds. Her body was found in the driver's seat of her Mercedes SUV around 8 a.m.

The Westchester County Police Department, with assistance from local, state, and federal agencies, investigated Ariela's death as a probable homicide. Authorities stated the killing was a targeted act and not a random incident. No suspects had been publicly identified, and the investigation reportedly hasn't been closed yet. Tekashi 6ix9ine paid tribute to her on Instagram Stories, calling her an amazing woman.

Following Ariela's untimely passing, speculations circulated online about whether her murder was connected to Tekashi 6ix9ine's past legal issues and due to his cooperation as a prosecution witness against members of his former gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, but these claims remain unconfirmed by authorities. Now, after four months of her passing, he is making headlines for facing legal troubles.

Rapper, Tekashi 6ix9ine, was recently ordered to serve an additional three-month prison term and was under extended supervision. The reason was multiple, repeated violations of the terms of his supervised release, stemming from his 2019 federal racketeering conviction. The U.S. District Court, Judge Paul Engelmayer, found that the rapper showed a "profound" disregard for the rules and, thus, on December 5, 2025, sentenced him to 45 days in prison, followed by a one-year extension of his supervised release. 6ix9ine's violations included failing to show up for required drug tests and testing positive for methamphetamine use.

Tekashi 6ix9ine also travelled to Las Vegas and Sarasota, Florida, without receiving prior permission from his probation officer. The rapper's additional breaches included pleading guilty to possession of cocaine and MDMA found during a March 2025 raid on his Miami home. He also assaulted a man in a Florida mall in August 2025 who was taunting him about his cooperation with law enforcement. Judge, Paul cited these "repeated brushes with the law" and a "serial pattern of violating supervised release" as the reasons for 6ix9ine's new jail time and strict conditions. The judge emphasised that the rules still apply to him, regardless of his fame.
