Deepika Padukone is one of the most talented actresses in the Bollywood film industry. Over the years, she has won hearts with her impeccable acting skills. However, this year, in 2025, the Om Shanti Om actress found herself in hot water after demanding an 8-hour work shift. In fact, due to this demand of hers, Deepika had to depart from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit and Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2. Now, her husband, Ranveer Singh, came in support of his ladylove as she is gearing up for her upcoming project, AA22 x A6.
Recently, during the launch event of Ching’s advertisement, Ranveer heaped praise on his wife, Deepika Padukone’s upcoming film, AA22 x A6. For the unversed, the advertisement and the film have been directed by phenomenal filmmaker, Atlee. Besides Deepika, the pan-Indian film also stars South Indian superstar, Allu Arjun. The Gully Boy actor shared that it has been great working with Atlee and also praised him by calling the new project, a rare masterpiece. Ranveer mentioned the time when he used to visit the set of AA22 x A6, as his wife was shooting with the Jawan director. In his words:
"It’s always great hanging out with him and working with him and his super-duper awesome team. Being in front of the lens of Mr G.K. Vishnu is such an honour and delight. I happened to visit him on the set of his current film because my wife was shooting with him. You may have heard this before, but you can hear it from me — he is creating something you’ve never experienced or seen in Indian cinema before."
In a recent candid interview with CNBC-TV18, Deepika Padukone broke her silence on her 8-hour shift demand. It is noteworthy to mention that before Deepika’s take on the following the matter, the 8-hour shift demand had created a lot of stir inside and outside the industry. For the unversed, it was Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s post that collided with the timing of Deepika’s exit from Spirit, which sparked the speculations that the Chennai Express actress’ demand was the reason behind the whole controversy.
Sharing her take on the demand, Deepika shared that because she is a woman, she is being labelled as pushy, while male actors who have been doing this shift for ages have never made headlines. She also highlighted that besides the 8-hour shift, the male actors also enjoy breaks during the weekends. She was quoted as saying:
"By virtue of being a woman, if that's coming across as being pushy or whatever, then so be it. But it is no secret that a lot of superstars, male superstars, in the Indian film industry have been working for eight hours for years, and it's never made headlines. I don't want to take names now and make this into a whole thing. A lot of them only work for eight hours Monday to Friday. They do not work on weekends."
Deepika will be next seen in the film, King. The movie also stars Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter, Suhana Khan. She also has Atlee's film, AA22xA6, in the pipeline. In the pan-Indian film, tentatively titled as AA22xA6, Deepika will be seen opposite Telugu superstar, Allu Arjun.
