Ramya Krishnan is one of the most respected and celebrated actresses in the Indian film industry. As of now, she is among the highest-paid actresses in the country. If the reports are to be believed, the iconic actress charges a whopping sum of Rs. 3-4 crore for a single film. In 2024, she appeared in two big-budget films, Guntur Kaaram and Purushothamudu. Even at 54, she continues to work with megastars, proving the mettle of her acting skills in every movie. For the uninitiated, Ramya Krishnan started her acting journey in the Tamil film industry.
The famous film director, C.V. Sridhar, handed Ramya Krishnan her acting debut in his film, Vellai Manasu, which was released in 1983. Her first Malayalam movie is Neram Pularumbol (1986), while her debut Telugu film is Bhale Mithrulu (1986). She made her acting debut in Kannada cinema with the film, Krishna Rukmini. However, it was the critically acclaimed filmmaker, Yash Chopra, who took Ramya Krishnan's career to the next level after giving her debut in Hindi cinema with his film, Parampara (1993).
In an acting career spanning more than four decades, Ramya Krishnan has worked in more than 200 films across five languages. Some of her most memorable acting performances were in the movies, Kante Koothurne Kanu, Sweety Nanna Jodi, Baahubali: The Beginning, Baahubali: The Conclusion, Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam, Padayappa, and Super Deluxe. Apart from being in the headlines for her surreal acting performances in the movies, Ramya Krishnan has also been in the spotlight for her personal life. It was her infamous extra-marital affair with renowned South Indian director, KS Ravikumar that created a stir across the entire film industry. For the uninitiated, it was in 1999 when Ramya joined hands with KS Ravikumar and worked together in the film, Padayappa. Their friendship soon turned into a relationship after they worked together in two more films, Paattali (1999) and Panchatanthiram (2002).
It not the first time that a filmmaker fell in love with an actress while working together on a film. However, what's disturbing in Ramya Krishnan and KS Ravikumar's relationship is that it was an extra-marital affair. Yes! You read it right. While at that time, Ramya was single, but KS Ravikumar was married to a lady named Karpagam. What's even more shocking is the fact that Ramya was aware of KS Ravikumar's marriage. According to a report in News 18, Ramya and KS Ravikumar were involved physically, and the actress got pregnant.

The report further stated that after Ramya Krishnan reportedly got pregnant, KS Ravikumar decided to end her extra-marital affair with the actress. Once they agreed to abortion, Ramya Krishnan reportedly demanded a sum of Rs. 75 lakhs for the termination of pregnancy. As per reports, KS Ravikymar paid Ramya a hefty sum, after which they parted ways with each other. It is one of the most scandalous affairs in the Indian film industry, but it couldn't hamper their careers, as both of them were brilliant in their respective professional fronts.
After the end of Ramya Krishnan's extra-marital affair with KS Ravikumar, she fell in love with another famous South Indian director, Krishna Vamsi. The couple got married on June 12, 2003, after dating each other for some time. At the time of their marriage, Ramya was 33, and Krishna was aged 41. It was on February 13, 2005, when Ramya and Krishna welcomed their first child, a baby boy, whom they named Ritwik Vamsi. The couple is leading a steady and happy married life with their son, Ritwik.
