Ram Kapoor REACTS On Making Inappropriate Remarks During 'Mistry' Promotions, 'I Have Said It..'

Ram Kapoor is a household name in the Indian Television and film industry, who has won hearts with his projects like Kasamh Se, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, and Humshakals among others. He has recently found himself in the middle of a controversy which has left the fans and industry insiders in shock. It all began when he was accused of making inappropriate s**ual comments on female members of the show's marketing and publicity teams during the promotions of his web series, Mistry. It was followed by a complaint against him and the actor was removed from the further promotional activities. Amid this, Ram has finally broken his silence on the incident.

Ram Kapoor reveals that he was unaware of the impact of his comments 

Ram Kapoor sat down for an interview with the Times Of India and shared his side of the story on his recent controversy. He began the conversation by admitting that he had made the comments that he was accused of. But, the actor clarified that his intentions were not to offend anyone. Ram shared that when he is around the people that he feels comfortable with, he becomes more unfiltered and casual. At the same time, he emphasised that those who know him or have worked with him understand that he would never aim to disrespect anyone. In his words:

"Let me start by saying that everything I've been accused of saying, I have said it. So, the fact is that I am guilty as charged. But this is what I have to say in my defence. Whenever I'm with people I am comfortable with, I tend to become. My bindass self. Everyone who knows me and who has worked with me knows that is how I am and that I don't mean to be offensive."

Ram insisted that he didn't even have a hint that his words were causing discomfort to anyone because everyone was laughing and joking. If the situation was otherwise and he would have sensed that anyone felt uncomfortable, he would have done something to address it. The actor questioned why he would make certain remarks in a room full of people if he felt they were offensive enough to bring a question to his 25-year-long career. 

Ram admits he will find a way to apologise to those who are hurt by his comments 

In the same conversation, Ram Kapoor accepted that he had commented on a female employee's attire and called it a distraction. But, he clarified that he also made similar remarks on the male team members present there. The Mere Dad Ki Maruti actor claimed that all the comments he made, which were casual in his mind, were taken offensively, which he now understood. Reflecting on the matter, Ram admitted that the time has evolved and he must set a better example in future. He said:

"The comments I made came from a harmless space, but the bottom line is that those team members, who are half my age, did get offended, and that's not acceptable. Not only my fans, I have my son who looks up to me and learns from me."

Ram Kapoor concluded his clarification by addressing the OTT platform's decision to distance him from the promotions of his web series. For those unaware, now his co-star, Mona Singh, is solely conducting interviews for Mistry. He requested his fans and colleagues not to doubt him and respected the platform's decision. The actor mentioned that he believes that the action taken against him will help him learn from his mistakes, and he would surely find a way to apologise to those who were affected by it. Sharing his views, Ram said:

"I do not blame them for taking this stance because, yes, it will teach me a lesson. I respect their decision, and I am going to find a way to apologise to each of those team members who were offended that day on a personal level."
