Raj Kundra On Father's Reaction When He Started Dating Shilpa Shetty, 'Daru Piti Hai, Cigarette..'

Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty are one of the cutest couples in Tinseltown. However, they have been through a lot over the past years. When Raj was jailed in July 2021, the family faced a lot. Despite the humiliation and discomfort, Shilpa stood with her husband. After which, Raj distanced himself from the industry and media. Recently, Raj shared the details of his love story with Shilpa Shetty with Farah Khan.

Raj Kundra shared details of his love story with Shilpa Shetty and how his father reacted to their relationship

In Farah Khan's vlog, Raj shared that it was love at first sight with Shilpa. However, his father was totally against it. He had a completely different notion of actresses back in those days. Recalling his father's words, Raj said that he told him that actresses drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes. He was quoted as saying:

"My father said, ‘Arre yaar, kya actresses ke saath lag gaya hai? Daru piti hai, cigarette piti hai."

Raj revealed that after he met Shilpa, all his doubts vanished. After which, his father sidelined him and said that they would live happily. He said, "They met her and said, ‘Tu ja side mein, we live with her now.'" Shilpa was quick to chime in and said, "My in-laws love me more than they love Raj."

When Raj Kundra's ex-wife, Kavita's reacted to his marriage to Shilpa Shetty

In an earlier interview with the Daily Mail, Raj Kundra's first wife, Kavita, accused Shilpa Shetty of breaking her home. She tagged the actress as a hombreaker. Kavita also claimed that when she was trying to sort out her marriage with Raj, he only talked about Shilpa. She was quoted as saying:

"I look at the pictures of them together and think, she’s with my husband, she’s living my life. While I was trying to put our marriage back together, he was talking constantly about Shilpa, as if it didn’t matter what happened to us because he had found someone better, cleverer and more famous than me. Now he has begun pestering me for a divorce. I asked him if he planned to marry someone else but he avoided the question."

Over the years, Shilpa has often been accused of marrying Raj for his money. Earlier, in an interview with Zoom, the actress mentioned that she has always been wealthy and has become even richer now. Reacting to people passing judgment that she married Raj for money. Shilpa was quoted as saying:

"Raj, when I married him, was supposed to be some 108th youngest or richest British-Indian, apparently back in the day when you Googled him, which is great. But I think people also forgot to Google Shilpa Shetty I was also very rich back then and I am richer today. When you’re a successful woman, you want to have a man who’s not going to feel insecure."

Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty first met in 2007. She first met at the launch of Shilpa's perfume line, S2 in the United Kingdom. Raj, at that time, was helping her with promotions. Soon, their work brought them together and they fell in love. The couple tied the knot in a grand ceremony in 2009. They welcomed their first child, Viaan in 2012. In 2020, they welcomed a baby girl via surrogacy.
