Raj Kundra Defends Wife, Shilpa Shetty, Amid Viral Croatia Restaurant Video, 'Meant To Be Special..'

A video of Shilpa Shetty started circulating on the internet on June 11, 2025. The video featured Shilpa Shetty screaming at a foreigner outside a restaurant in Hvar, Croatia; while the actress cannot be seen, she can clearly be heard in the video. Soon after, people started crowding the entrance of the restaurant, and the internet was left divided about the occurrence. Amid that, Shilpa Shetty's husband, Raj Kundra, has come forward to share their side of the story.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra recently celebrated the actress' 50th birthday. However, the happy milestone turned into an event of extreme frustration and the video of the same was shared online, creating a massive buzz. In the viral clip, Shilpa can be seen yelling at someone, saying that they should eat their food and not talk to them. The video has gone viral within hours. Shilpa can be quoted as saying:  

"Eat your food. Don’t talk to us, we don’t want to hear you."

Now, Shilpa's husband and businessman, Raj Kundra, has issued a clarification on the viral video. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Raj revealed what happened at the restaurant and confirmed that the incident happened on a recent family trip. He shared that they were celebrating Shilpa's 50th birthday in Croatia and had booked a table at the popular restaurant for his extended family a year in advance in order to celebrate the special occasion together. However, once they arrived at the restaurant, the staff informed them that their table had been double-booked due to an error by the same travel agent. He was quoted as saying:

"As someone who has also run restaurants, I found the handling of the situation deeply frustrating especially with my elderly parents, mother-in-law and 20 guests left waiting. What was meant to be a special evening turned unnecessarily stressful, and when we raised our concerns, we were abruptly told to stay quiet, which only added to our disappointment."

In the same conversation, Raj Kundra revealed that after a year of planning, the lack of accountability and basic courtesy from the management was extremely disheartening. Several accounts on social media speculate Shilpa and her family entered into a verbal argument with a foreigner at the restaurant who objected to them talking loudly. Raj added that he hopes his side can put things into perspective and stated:

"After a year of planning, the lack of accountability or even basic courtesy from the restaurant management was extremely disheartening. I hope this puts the situation into perspective."

It was on June 9, 2025, when Shilpa shared precious moments from her birthday trip. These included her wearing a golden gown and posing on a balcony as firecrackers fill up the sky in the background. There was another one of her posing with her multi-tier birthday cake. She penned the post stating:

"And it was a blast! Surrounded by unconditional love. @onlyrajkundra you are a star. Only gratitude in my heart for you, for the surprises, and for all the memories."
