In an utterly heartbreaking piece of news, it has been revealed that Bengali actor, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026. His sudden death has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, more so because he was only 43 years old at the time of his passing. While Rahul's fans and fellow actors are still processing the tragic news, the actor's last post on Instagram has surfaced.

A quick look at the late actor, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee's Instagram reveals that his last post on the platform was made just a day before his tragic passing on March 29, 2026. For the unversed, on his Instagram handle, Rahul had more than 40k followers and over a thousand posts. Well, the last post on his account is a joint post by Rahul and the Sohoj Katha account, which was Rahul's podcast show. It is a clip featuring Rahul in conversation with actor and politician, Bratya Basu. To note, it is just a small snippet of an over-an-hour YouTube video on Shohoj Katha's channel.

In the IG snippet, Rahul can be seen asking Bratya why he refuses to attend theatre performances, even after being invited by different people. As Bratya answers his question, Rahul listens carefully to his guest, chipping in when necessary. The post's caption urged viewers to check out the full episode on YouTube, which was released two days ago, on March 27, 2026. While the above-mentioned post was a Reel, the Bengali actor also posted a picture on his Instagram handle four days before his death, on March 25, 2026. In the post, he was seen alongside his fellow actors, with one of them being actress, Sweta Mishra. Rahul captioned the photo as “Curd Eggplant.”

Rahul Arunoday Banerjee was one of the most celebrated and respected actors in the Bengali entertainment industry. According to reports, his acting journey began when he was only three years old, when he performed in a play with a theatre group. While growing up, he had performed in several theatre plays, but later shifted his focus to television. If reports are believed to be true, Rahul's breakthrough came with the show, Khela.

Rahul went on to win viewers' hearts with his appearance in the 2008 film, Chirodini Tumi Je Amar. Other notable films he has appeared in include Love Circus, Shono Mon Boli Tomay, Aabar Aashbo Phire, Goray Gondogol, and Jaatishwar, to name a few. Apart from this, some of the TV serials Rahul appeared in include Tumi Ashbe Bole, Desher Maati, Swapno Udaan, Laalkuthi, and more. In his decades-long career, he was appreciated by both fans and critics alike for playing a variety of challenging characters, whether emotional or romantic.

According to reports, Rahul was shooting for his upcoming serial, Bhole Baba Par Karega, when he tragically passed away. He is believed to have died from drowning on location, in Talsari, Digha. After he drowned, he was quickly rushed to Digha hospital, but it is believed that he passed away before reaching the hospital. Actor, Bhaskar Banerjee, who plays Rahul's uncle in the serial, shared what happened on the fateful day. As per Anandabazar, he said: 

“He died due to drowning. It is a tragic incident. It happened after pack-up. However, how exactly it happened is still not clear.”
