Rachel Gupta Reveals The Truth About Miss Grand International, Says, 'Locked In Room With No Food..'

The 21-year-old winner of Miss Grand International 2024, Rachel Gupta, found herself in the middle of a controversy after she announced that she was resigning from her title. It was on May 28, 2025, when she took to her Instagram handle and shared the news with her fans, citing the 'toxic environment and repeated unkept promises' during her reign as Miss Grand International 2024 as the reason behind the same. However, soon after, the organisers issued a statement alleging that Rachel's title had been terminated.  

Rachel Gupta shares the truth behind Miss Grand International

It was on May 29, 2025, when Rachel Gupta took to her YouTube channel and shared a video titled, 'The Truth about Miss Grand International - My Story'. In the video, the young model shared a different version of what went down and revealed that she had just experienced the worst 7 months of her life. She recalled being forced to live in a cramped hotel room, which didn't even have enough room for her luggage let alone her. She revealed that she lived there for a month.

However, things got out of control when she was moved to a small house at least an hour away from the city centre, with no phone and no food. Rachel revealed that she had to buy her own food, and most of the time, delivery agents would refuse to bring her food as she was so far away from the city. Nonetheless, that was not all; Rachel further made some serious allegations against the Miss Grand International organisers. She stated:

"Frankly they don't care if I live or die. As long as I'm there to smile at their events, as long as I keep my body super skinny, the way they like, they don't care if I live or die. They just want me to be there, to go on TikTok Live and make money for them and show up at their events. That's it, that's all they want from me..."

Rachel Gupta revealed that they were made to sell cheap products for money

In the same video, Rachel Gupta revealed that they would never support her, and would make them sell cheap and tacky products on TikTok as if they were salesgirls. She added that despite being crowned queens in their respective countries with respectable careers, they were made to sell things because it made them money. Rachel revealed that they didn't even have the privilege to say no. 

Rachel Gupta on being body-shamed

In the same video, Rachel Gupta revealed that she was pushed to maintain unrealistic beauty standards. She recalled that she asked them for access to the gym, but no arrangements were made, and she had to beg them for a yoga mat. On the other hand, they would hound her for her weight and body all the time. Rachel shared that they would pinch her and tell her to lose weight there. 

"I remember one time, they sent their representative to me, and he just comes up to me and he starts pinching me in different places, and he's like, 'Oh, you need to lose weight here, you need to lose weight here'. What am I supposed to say to that? It's so embarrassing. It makes you feel so small and so bad. I understand, obviously I have to stay fit for the job I have, and stay in shape, but it's so difficult when you don't have access to anything and you're just locked in a house, basically all day long."

Rachel Gupta revealed that there were paid votes in the competition 

In the video, Rachel also slammed the Miss Grand International Organisers for bribery. She revealed that countries could pay for votes during the Miss Grand International 2024 pageant, and the organisation accepted these payments, creating unfair competition. She also expressed concerns about the organisation's handling of serious issues, including a case of sexual harassment reported by a former titleholder.
