Priyanka Chopra's Mom, Madhu Chopra REVEALS Neglecting Son, Siddharth Chopra, 'Priyanka's Career..'

Priyanka Chopra is one of the most celebrated actresses in Bollywood, and she has also made her name in the Hollywood industry. However, it was her mom, Madhu Chopra, who was a constant supporter and guide to the global star. In a recent conversation, Madhu revealed some unknown facts about their initial struggles after coming to Mumbai. She also revealed that during the tough phase, she kept Priyanka’s career as her topmost priority, which made her neglect her son, Siddharth.

Madhu Chopra recalls the initial days of struggle when they came to Mumbai

In a recent conversation with Debina Bonnerjee on her YouTube show, Priyanka’s mom, Madhu Chopra recalled the struggles that she and her family had to face when they came to Mumbai. For the unversed, Priyanka’s mom is a gynaecologist and a cosmetologist, and her late father was also a doctor. The couple also served in the Indian Army as doctors. Madhu talked about the time when the family relocated to Mumbai one by one as they needed to fund Priyanka’s stay in Mumbai. For the unversed, Priyanka’s dad, Dr. Ashok Chopra, died in 2013 after fighting cancer for a long time. Recalling the tough times, Madhu said:

"It was a big decision for us to relocate for Priyanka to Mumbai. We had to do it one by one, it took time. First, her father came with her and I stayed back and kept working because we had to fund her stay here. Then after my husband got a job at Lilavati Hospital, I came here."

Madhu also recalled the tough time, when they had to leave behind the hospital that was started by her and her husband, Dr. Ashok Chopra. They had spent 11 years in that hospital started by themselves. Madhu shared it was difficult for them to settle in Mumbai and again start from stratch. In her words:

"It was difficult to leave the hospital that we had started on our own and spent 11 years there. We started from scratch and became top doctors in the city. It was difficult to hand over each patient and leave friends and our home. These were all big decisions and Mumbai was like a big sea – if you don’t know how to swim, you will drown."

Further, in the conversation, Madhu revealed that although their decision to relocate to a new city like Mumbai was a difficult one, it was possible because Priyanka's career was the topmost priority for her and her husband, Ashok. She also shared an unknown fact about their family, which is that during the tough time when they and Priyanka were struggling to settle down in Mumbai, she neglected her son, Siddharth, who is seven years younger than Priyanka. Madhu shared that during that time, they had sent Siddharth to a relative’s house in the USA. She also shared how her brother-in-law advised her never to leave Priyanka’s side in Mumbai, and thus, Siddharth was sent away from the family because she had no time for him. In her words:

"There was a condition put by my brother-in-law that I can’t leave Priyanka even for a minute in Mumbai and then only Priyanka can go to Mumbai. I had no choice but to leave my practice and be with her. So Siddharth was neglected initially but he manned up and made it so well in life. He went to college and did everything on his own and wasn’t dependent on us."
