Industrialist and chairman of auto components giant Sona Comstar, Sunjay Kapur died suddenly in an accident during a polo match in England. The tragic incident occurred when he suffered cardiac arrest after accidentally swallowing a bee. His last rites were held in New Delhi, attended by close friends, family, and his ex-wife, actress, Karisma Kapoor and their chidlren. Since his death, a bitter public dispute over his estimated Rs. 30,000 crore estate has begun to slowly erupt. His mother, Rani Kapur, has come public with a series of allegations regarding his death. While his wife, Priya Sachdev, has become a board member. Amidst all this, now she has decided to change her name.

Her Instagram bio now reflects her boardroom title, and her handle has changed from Priya Sachdev Kapur to Priya Sunjay Kapur. The shift has created a buzz among netizens, and they are calling it a power move in the ongoing inheritance and corporate control narrative that the Sunjay Kapur's legacy is facing. Her daughter from a previous marriage, Safira, has also removed her surname from her social media profiles, and is now going only by her first name.

Sunjay Kapur’s mother, Rani Kapur, made some serious allegations regarding her son’s death

Amid the corporate restructuring in Sona Comstar, Sunjay Kapur’s mother, Rani Kapur, had raised some serious concerns in a letter addressed to Sona Comstar’s board. She claimed she had been ‘compelled to sign various documents without explanation’ following her son’s death. Although she didn't name anyone directly, many have speculated that her comments were directed towards her daughter-in-law, Priya. 

Priya, who married Sunjay in 2017, has one son with him, Azarius and her daughter from a previous marriage, Safira also stayed with them. Before marrying Priya, Sunjay was married to Bollywood actress, Karisma Kapoor from 2003 to 2016, with whom he shares two children, Samaira and Kiaan. While Karisma has kept a low profile in the aftermath of his passing, reports suggest she is focused solely on her children’s well-being, as being reported she has already secured bonds and property for her children in previous divorce settlements.
