Billionaire businessman, Sunjay Kapur’s untimely demise has come as a shock to many people. Sunjay was in London when he suffered a cardiac arrest and died on June 12, 2025, while playing polo. Ever since his death, a family feud has broken out between Sunjay’s family and his widow, Priya Sachdev.
Now, Sunjay’s kids, Samaira and Kiaan, from his previous marriage to Karisma Kapoor, approached the Delhi High Court seeking a share in their father's assets. They also accused Sunjay Kapur's third wife, Priya Sachdev, of usurping the 'full control' over their father's assets. The kids once shared a great rapport with Priya, and their pictures on social media spoke about their unbreakable bond.
For the uninitiated, before marrying Priya Sachdev, Sunjay was previously married to Karisma Kapoor and had welcomed parenthood with the arrival of their children, Samaira and Kiaan. However, after Sunjay’s divorce from Karisma, he married Priya, and they welcomed their son, Azarias. Priya was earlier married to hotelier, Vikram Chatwal, with whom she had a daughter, Safira.
In a throwback interview with Kin and Kindness, Priya once spoke about her bond with Sunjay and Karisma’s kids and revealed how the kids are blended together in the family. In her words:
“We have four children — Samaira, the oldest, then Safira, Kiaan, and my and Sunjay’s son, Azarias. It’s a blended family. I think when our little boy (Azarias) was born, he was the little glue. He brought the family together because he is half of them and half of Safira. That really brought the family together. Our two daughters are very close, Samaira and Safira. They are just two years apart. We have all grown to appreciate, respect and love each other in our own ways.”
In the same interaction, Priya Sachdev stated that though she can never take their mother’s place, she still holds a special place in their life. Elaborating on the same, Priya said:

“I can never be Samaira and Kian's mother, but I know I definitely have a space in their lives and their world. Someone they can bounce off ideas with or talk about education and other things. We talk about fun stuff, frivolous stuff, and serious stuff. So they have made a little space in their hearts for me. I definitely have a bond and connection with them.”
After Sunjay Kapur’s untimely death, Sunjay's third wife, Priya Sachdev Kapur, was appointed as the non-executive director of the company, after which a family feud broke out. Sunjay’s mother, Rani Kapur, claimed that she hasn't given her consent to anyone to be appointed as a member of the board of directors of the firm. She went on to reveal that she has been living off mercy after her son's demise, and she has been denied access to all of her accounts.
In the latest development, Sunjay’s kids, Samaira Kapur and Kiaan Kapur from his first marriage with Karisma Kapoor, challenged their father’s will. They urged to be recognised as Class 1 legal heirs to Kapur's personal assets in the late businessman's Rs. 30,000 crore estate. They claimed that their step-mother, Priya Sachdev, forged the will after his sudden death in June 2025, in the United Kingdom.
The children are being represented by their mother, Karisma Kapoor, in the court. Karisma's children have questioned the will dated March 21, 2025. According to the will, Sunjay's entire personal estate has been left in the name of Priya Kapur.
