Sunjay Kapur's sudden death shook his present and ex-wife's family. It led to a public inheritance feud over his approximately Rs. 30,000 crore estate, primarily involving his third wife, Priya Sunjay Kapur, his children with ex-wife Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan and his mother, Rani Kapur. The dispute centres on a contested will and allegations of asset concealment by Priya. Amid this, Sunjay's widow made a big move– attending a business meeting of his company. Read to know what it was about.
As reported by The Times of India, Priya Kapur recently attended a meeting with Sunjay's company officials to discuss business matters, despite the ongoing family dispute over her deceased husband, Sunjay Kapur's wealth and his will. Priya attended the meeting as the director of Aureus Investment (AIPL), which was held with the Auto Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) in New Delhi. AIPL holds the promoter stake in Sona Comstar. Her presence was seen as an attempt to become the face of the company in her husband's absence.
For the uninitiated, she was appointed as the director of AIPL and non-executive director of Sona Comstar following Sunjay Kapur's passing in June 2025, due to having a heart attack after swallowing a bee. Priya's appointment led to challenges by Sunjay's mother, Rani Kapur and sister, Mandhira Kapur Smith. The meeting was chaired by ACMA President, Vikrampati Singhania and opened with tributes to Sunjay Kapur, who was a former ACMA president and chairman of Sona Comstar.
Priya's presence in the discussion was considered symbolically crucial amid the ongoing family dispute. It signals her intent to take on responsibilities within the industry and position herself as a key figure in Sunjay's corporate legacy. During the closed-door meeting, Priya Kapur herself stated her willingness to assume any responsibility entrusted to her by the industry body, a source told TOI. They also shared that Priya attended the ACMA executive committee meeting because she was invited. The source was quoted as saying:
"She was a special invitee to the executive committee meeting after being called for the event by ACMA president, Vikrampati Singhania."
Priya's mother-in-law, Rani Kapur, and sister-in-law, Mandhira, were not in favour of Priya's appointment to the key positions at AIPL and Sona Comstar. They claimed that it gave Priya immense power and control over Sunjay's estate, and she used it for the wrong reasons. Mandhira accused Priya of usurping Sunjay's estate and leaving her mother, Rani, with nothing. As per her, Priya snatched the roof from above Rani's head, leaving her with no option but to contest her legally.

Mandhira also mentioned that they initially didn't plan to take things to court and expected Priya to sort things amicably. She wanted her to give them and Karisma Kapoor's kids their due share from Sunjay's estate and end the feud. However, as things took an ugly turn, Mandhira felt that Karisma's kids made the right move to head to the Delhi High Court. According to her, the court proceedings will finally provide the entire family with clarity on Sunjay's actual extent of estate and the contents of his will.
