Prime Video's 'Cross' Renewed For Season 3: Breathtaking Finale Of Season 2 Sets Up A New Chapter

Cross has turned out to be one of the most successful crime thrillers on Amazon Prime Video. The first season premiered on November 14, 2024, and received a positive response from critics and audiences alike. The second season also left a similar impression when it arrived on February 11, 2026. Compared to Season 1, the second season used a different format, releasing three episodes on the first day. The remaining episodes were then released on a weekly basis, leading to the end of Season 2 on March 18, 2026.

Cross had a routine storyline like the other crime shows. The basic premise focused on a team investigating the cases of dangerous killers. The team included a forensic psychologist named 'Alex Cross' and his partner, 'John Sampson,' a homicide detective. While exploring the criminal underworld in their investigation, 'Alex' had to keep his family safe from the dangers emerging due to the investigations conducted by him and 'John.' Amazon Prime Video has confirmed a third season of Cross

The third season of Cross was announced by Amazon Prime Video on February 11, 2026. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the release date has not been confirmed by the streaming platform. However, it will have eight episodes like the other two seasons. Amazon MGM Studios head of global television, Peter Friedlander, said in a statement that the show has impressed audiences with its characters, storytelling, and suspense. Peter mentioned that the portrayal of 'Alex Cross' by Aldis Hodge has made the series more compelling. Peter continued by saying:

“We’re thrilled to continue this journey with Ben, our collaborators at Paramount Television Studios, and the rest of the incredible cast to bring even more of James Patterson’s iconic world to our global Prime Video audience.”

What happened at the end of Cross Season 2?

The conclusion of Cross Season 2 has left a lot of questions in the minds of the audience. Notably, the lead character, 'Alex Cross,' always believed that the police and FBI were never wrong when they made any decision. He has a problem with the methods followed by 'Luz.' However, he also admits that her intentions are not bad. But 'Alex' has now discovered that he has been involved in a corrupt system that prioritizes optics before justice.

'Alex Cross' has everything, including a flash drive, that can punish 'Lance Durand' for all the criminal activities that the latter has been involved with. The situation takes a different turn when 'Cross' approaches the FBI with the evidence, and they tell him that 'Lance’s' Prosperity Seed Project is helping the United States. The FBI also tells 'Alex' that they cannot follow 'Lance' for his crimes. All of these things force 'Alex' to resign as he returns his badge. The life of 'Cross' will be different from this point, and Season 3 will explore the same.

What can be expected from Cross Season 3?

According to ScreenRant, Cross Season 3 is supposed to focus on another storyline from the second season. For the unversed, the show is adapted from a book series by James Patterson. The book has disclosed that 'Alex’s' biggest enemy is 'Kyle Craig,' who helped 'Alex' with his cases. However, he has been stalking 'Cross' at the same time and is a serial killer. The book refers to 'Kyle' as “The Mastermind,” a term used in Season 2 to describe someone linked to 'Kayla Craig.' But the person's identity was not revealed, and it could be disclosed in the upcoming season.

Majority of the characters are returning in Cross Season 3

Cross Season 3 will be incomplete without 'Alex Cross' and 'John Sampson.' Therefore, these two characters, portrayed by Aldis Hodge and Isaiah Mustafa, are undoubtedly returning in the third season. Alona Tal is also expected to reprise her role as 'Kayla Craig.' Alex’s grandmother, 'Regina Cross,' could return in Season 3, played by Juanita Jennings. Furthermore, Melody Hard and Caleb Elijah might appear as Alex’s children, 'Damon Cross' and 'Janelle Cross.'
