When Preity Zinta Became A Mother To 34 Orphan Girls When She Turned 34, 'I Have Adopted'

Punjab Kings owner, Preity Zinta is excited as her team has made it to the finals of the Indian Premier League 2025. The actress who was known as Bollywood's dimple queen made her debut in the Hindi film industry with Shah Rukh Khan, Manisha Koirala's movie, Dil Se. Preity has won the hearts of her fans with her work in iconic movies like Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Dil Chahta Hai, Dil Hai Tumhaara, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Kal Ho Naa Ho, to name a few. It was in 2016 that the actress got married to Gene Goodenough. However, do you know that Preity had adopted 34 kids when she was 34 back in 2009?

When Preity Zinta became a mom to 34 girls on her 34th birthday

Preity and Gene are parents to adorable twins-Jai and Gia, who came into their lives via surrogacy. Although, do you know the actress even before her marriage became a mom to 34 kids? Preity is known for her social work and also humanitarian campaigns where she gives help to underprivileged ladies and kids. However, when she was 34, she decided to adopt 34 orphans right from, Mother Miracle orphanage located in Rishikesh. The actress had even addressed the media about adopting the 34 girls and shared:

"I've adopted 34 girls. I'll be looking after their entire upbringing from education to food, clothes etc. You've no idea how wonderful it feels to hear the excited chatter of all these girls together. These are my children now, my responsibility. I'll be constantly connected with them and I'll visit them twice a year."

Preity had shared that she had looked after their education, food, clothing and that her heart melted when she spoke to them. Preity back then had also decided to see them two times a year, and also shared that it worried her, thinking of the condition of girl kids from underprivileged classes is. She had been disturbed by news related to girl foeticide and children being in a toxic environment that made her scared. She had shared that over the years, she would adopt more kids as it was just the start.

When Preity Zinta revealed to the world of being blessed with twins

It was on November 18, 2021, when the actress took to her Instagram handle to share a cute picture with Gene. She revealed in her post that she and her husband were delighted to announce the arrival of Jai and Gia and that they were very excited related to the new chapter in their lives. The actress also expressed gratitude to the nurses and doctors and to their surrogate, who was a part of their journey.

For the unversed, Preity was earlier in a relationship with Ness Wadia, and both of them had an ugly breakup. The actress has always liked to live a low-key life and has believed in the motto of simple living, high thinking. She has been a phenomenal actress in the Hindi film domain, but her journey was not at all easy. Preity was just 13 when she lost her dad, Durganand Zinta, in a car accident, and Preity's mom also suffered serious injuries. Preity was aged 15 when her mom also left the world, but the actress strived hard to make her mark.
