After more than two decades, veteran journalist, Peter Alexander officially announced his exit from NBC News during his broadcast on March 28, 2026. For the unversed, he joined Saturday TODAY in 2018 and three years later, in 2021, he was named NBC's co-chief, White House correspondent.

Peter, in an interview in the mid-2010s, had once shared that Alison 'blew him off' for nearly a decade until they decided to tie the knot. He was quoted as saying:

"Alison and I met while we were reporters for competing stations in Seattle 15 years ago. She blew me off for most of a decade before I finally wore her down."

Coming to his daughters, Peter Alexander and his wife, Alison have two daughters, Ava and Emma, with the former being the eldest. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Ava was born in July 2013. On the other hand, Emma was born in 2015. For the unversed, Emma’s middle name is Pink, which was chosen to honour the maiden name of Peter’s mother. 

During an earlier conversation, Peter Alexander had described his daughter, Emma as very much “like my wife”. On the other hand, he shared that his second daughter, Ava, is someone who is “very big hearted”, “very caring” and “very social”. Apart from this, Peter once spoke about following a tradition with his daughter. He had shared:

"My dad always took us to the Oakland A's games, and Ava just got her first Washington Nationals wiffle ball and bat. Still, I'm not sure how nine innings will go with the girls just yet. We've already taken Ava to Annie and The Wizard of Oz at The National Theatre. I'm hoping that tradition sticks."

According to a report by Hindustan Times, Peter Alexander has an estimated net worth of around USD 14 million. Reportedly, Peter’s annual salary used to be around USD 1.5 million. As per a report by Payscale, his salary as a journalist at NBC News was somewhere between USD 51,350 to USD 161,595. Coming to his educational background, Peter reportedly studied journalism from Northwestern University and later, in 2004, he joined NBC News.

"I’ve been away from home more than 80 nights in the last seven months, more than 220 Friday nights, 220 Fridays nights away from my family in the last seven years. So it’s a limited window before my daughters lose interest in hanging out with me. It’s happened quick. I’m eager to carve out a better balance between my personal and professional lives and to challenge myself with something new."
