Patrick And Brittany Mahomes' Love Story, From Teenage Romance To Multiple Super Bowls Victories

Love stories in the world of sports often capture as much attention as the games themselves, especially when it includes fame, pressure and managing personal life with grace. One such couple, who has always stood out for its strong and passionate bond is Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany Mahomes. 

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes' love story goes back to their teenage days. Their journey from meeting in high school to staying strong while achieving personal and professional heights, is nothing less than a fairytale. Their relationship is a mix of romance, shared ambition and strong partnership. Read on to know more about their love story. 

How did Patrick Mahomes and Brittany meet for the first time?

Patrick and Brittany first crossed paths as teenagers in Whitehouse, Texas. Patrick was a sophomore, while Brittany was a junior at Whitehouse High School. According to Sportskeeda, the duo were only friends until Patrick decided to give her a rose for Valentines, which made Brittany think of something more than friendship. In an old interview, the NFL player had shared:

"We kinda met in seventh, eighth grade. She was the grade above me, I was kind of the best friend, in the friend zone forever. I used to walk her to class and was trying to flirt. When I was a sophomore in high school, she was a junior. I actually got her a rose… I had a crush on her. But, I was getting a rose as a joke for Valentine’s Day."

Soon, Patrick and Brittany started dating each other. In 2013, they even attended their school prom together. However, after Brittany completed her graduation, she moved to University of Texas at Tyler where she played soccer and Patrick chose Texas Tech University. But the couple beautifully managed long-distance along with their athletic schedules.

Patrick popped the question to Brittany in 2020

After graduating from their Universities, both Patrick and Brittany went on to become pro soccer players. While Brittany signed with the Icelandic professional soccer team Afturelding/Fram, Patrick was chosen by the Kansas City Chiefs. In the next two-three years, the duo became each other's biggest support systems. 

In February 2020, when Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowls, Patrick was seen celebrating with his girlfriend on the field. Months later, in September 2020, Patrick proposed to Brittany in front of a floral wall with a neon light that read "Will You Marry Me?" Later, during a candid conversation with KCSP 610 Radio, the NFL star shared:

"You don't think it's going to be nerve-wracking, especially when you've been with someone for so long, but before you get on that knee, your heart's racing, I promise you that."

Patrick and Brittany tied the knot after dating for a decade

Days after Patrick proposed to Brittany, the couple announced that they are expecting their first child. In February 2021, they embraced parenthood with their daughter, Sterling Skye Mahomes. For the entire 2021, the couple enjoyed their time with Sterling. But it was in March 2022, when Patrick and Brittany said ‘I Do’ to each other in a private ceremony in Hawaii and then went for their honeymoon. 

In May 2022, Patrick and Brittany took to their social media handles to announce that they are pregnant again. Within a month, they also shared that they are about to have a boy and on November 28, 2022, the power couple welcomed their baby boy, Patrick "Bronze" Lavon Mahomes III. In the next few years, the couple enjoyed their personal life, along with professional highs. In 2023, Brittany and Patrick celebrated the NFL star’s win at the Super Bowl. 

Brittany and Patrick celebrated three years of marriage in 2025

In May 2023, Patrick and Brittany were seen smiling and holding hands at the red carpet of Met Gala. While Patrick wore a classic black suit with matching pants, his wife opted for a white off-the-shoulder dress. In July 2023, at the premiere of Netflix docuseries, Quarterback, Patrick spoke good about his wife:

"I have a great wife. I think that helps out a ton. She helps me out a ton by taking stuff off my plate. I have great people around me and I can be Patrick Mahomes. I can be myself, the same person I've grown up being — and luckily that's won a couple of Super Bowls."

In July 2024, the couple announced their pregnancy and in early 2025, they welcomed their baby girl, Golden Raye. In March 2025, the couple celebrated their third wedding anniversary with a romantic candlelight dinner for two. Patrick and Brittany took to their Instagram handle to share photos, in which they were seen enjoying cocktails and chocolate-covered strawberries.
