Patralekhaa Talks About Embracing First Motherhood, Says Rajkummar Rao Will Be 'An Amazing Dad'

Bollywood's much-loved pair, Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa, are on cloud nine as they are embracing the joy of parenthood. After announcing the news of her pregnancy earlier this week, the mommy-to-be is already looking forward to new adventures with their baby as a family of three. As the parents-to-be count down to their first child, Patralekhaa recently opened up about her pregnancy and motherhood journey so far. 

Patralekhaa opens up on ‘two babies’ on the way

In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Patralekhaa opened up about her pregnancy, calling the experience surreal and still sinking in. The Citylights actress revealed feeling constantly tired and shared her plans to take things slow. Prioritising her health and the baby, she confirmed she won’t be taking up any shoots for the next six to seven months.

While shooting is a no-go for Patralekhaa at the moment, that doesn't mean work is off the radar completely. The Phule actress revealed that she and Rajkummar have another ‘baby’ on board - the first ever project of their production house that will soon air on Netflix. Reflecting on the dream-come-true moment with the launch of their first project, Patralekhaa said:

“Well, we have another baby that's going to come soon on Netflix. So, we are super excited about that. The poster for the project will drop very soon. It is really a piece of our heart and our hard work… Many years back, we had a dream of having our own production house, and now it is coming to reality… So, this is very special for us in many ways, personal and professional.”

Patralekhaa on how Rajkummar will be as a father

Patralekhaa shared her excitement about welcoming a baby with her ‘perfect partner’, Rajkummar Rao. When asked how she envisions the actor as a father, she recalled their recent trip to New Zealand. During the trip, his attentiveness and care for even the smallest details made her realise that he would be an incredible dad. In her words:

“With New Zealand, I felt that Raj is going to be an amazing dad. He really took care of me. In fact, he went out of his way to just figure out the food that I wanted to eat. He is a perfect partner, and that was reinforced during this trip.”

Patralekhaa further added that they already have a trip in mind once the baby arrives. The to-be parents want to travel to the Southern part of New Zealand and try out more adventure spots they have yet to cover, and that means experiencing some crazy adventures, even bungee jumping. She was quoted as saying;

“We are thinking that once the baby is here, we must do a trip to the southern part of New Zealand because we didn't cover that. That’s something that's on our bucket list now. Perhaps we can do some bungee jumping or something crazier with the baby.”

Patralekhaa and Rajkummar announce their first pregnancy 

After dating for several years, Patralekhaa and Rajkummar Rao tied the knot in a dreamy wedding on November 15, 2021. On July 9, 2025, the couple announced the news of their pregnancy with a ‘baby on the way’ post, and they have since been receiving congratulatory messages from the industry. 

On the work front, the dad-to-be, Rajkummar Rao’s latest film, Maalik, hit the theatres on July 11, 2025, and critics are calling it his career-best performance.
