Patralekhaa Reveals Gaining Weight After Getting Her Eggs-Freezed, Shares Painful Experience

Motherhood often comes with unique challenges and surprises and every woman's journey during this phase is different. Bollywood actress and Rajkummar Rao's beautiful wife, Patralekhaa, who is all set to embrace motherhood in a few months, recently spoke about the challenges of getting egg-freezing and compared it with the experience of naturally conceived pregnancy. 

Patralekhaa shared her experience of getting her eggs freezed

Recently, the CityLights actress, Patralekhaa sat down for a candid conversation with Soha Ali Khan on her YouTube channel and shared that three years ago, she had taken the bold step of getting her eggs freezed. She also revealed that after getting pregnant, she has realised that this is much easier than egg-freezing. She explained that her doctor didn’t tell her about how difficult it will be for her. Patralekhaa also gained quite some weight due to that. She shared:

"I had also frozen my eggs about three years back and now that I am pregnant, I feel pregnancy was way easier than freezing the eggs. My doctor didn’t tell me how difficult it was going to be. Also the blues that I had, once my egg freezing was done. So between the two, I would always recommend that the young girls should just get pregnant. It’s just easier than going through that whole process."

Patralekhaa did an international project during her pregnancy

In the same conversation, Patralekhaa revealed that for a while she did not know about her own pregnancy as her test confirmed it to be negative. It was only when she visited a gynecologist that she got to know about the good news. Then she explained that during that time she had signed an international travel show and even though she and Rajkummar were scared for their child, they did the show as they had committed. In her words:

"We had signed to do this travel show. We signed the contract in December or January and then we figured we were pregnant in March and in April, we had to go do that and we were contractually bound and we couldn’t even tell them but we were very scared. We had to do it because it was a commitment but it was very scary."

Rajkummar Rao and Patralekhaa’s love story is one of the most admired in Bollywood. The two first met in 2010, when Rajkummar had just started his acting journey and Patralekhaa was an aspiring actress. The Maalik actor once shared that he fell in love with her after watching a commercial, while Patralekhaa liked Rajkummar's honesty and nature. 

Reportedly, the duo dated for almost a decade before getting married in November 2021, in a beautiful and intimate wedding ceremony, attended by close friends and family. In July 2025, the couple took to their Instagram handle to announce their pregnancy. The duo shared that they were 'elated' by that news. 

Individually, Rajkummar Rao has appeared in hit films like Trapped, Newton, Stree, Hit, Ludo, Kai Po Che, Bareilly Ki Barfi and more. Most recently, he was seen in Maalik. On the other hand, Patralekhaa made her debut with CityLights and has done films like Love Games, Nanu Ki Jaanu and more.
