Hera Pheri was made by Priyadarshan and released in the year 2000. Twenty-five years later, the dialogues, storyline, characters, and songs still resonate with every generation of cinema lovers. The movie and its hilarious comedy have contributed countless content to the meme culture of India. That is why when Paresh Rawal, who played the fan-favourite, 'Babu Rao' in the film, announced his exit from Hera Pheri 3, he left many fans heartbroken. However, after a legal fallout with co-star Akshay Kumar, Paresh has rejoined Hera Pheri 3.
Paresh Rawal recently opened up about his initial exit from Hera Pheri 3 and the controversy that followed when co-star and producer, Akshay Kumar, sued for Rs. 25 crores. In a podcast on The Himanshu Mehta Show, Paresh said that he has resolved all the issues with Akshay and his production house, Cape of Good Films. The actor said that when something is so loved by the audience then they should be extra careful with it and deliver to the viewers with hard work. Paresh said in the interview:
"Mera yahi hai ki jab cheez itni zyda logon ko bhaati hai toh you need to be extra careful. It is our responsibility for the audience, kyunki audience baithi hai itna pyaar karti hai. You can't take things for granted. Mehnat karke unko do."
Paresh stated that now everything is resolved, so they all should come together and work hard. The actor reiterated that nothing had happened. Then Paresh said that the film would have been released even after all the controversy, however he joked and said that sometimes they needed to 'fine tune' each other. He also mentioned director, Priyadarshan and co-stars, Akshay Kumar and Suneil Shetty as creative people. Paresh stated:
"Pahle bhi aane hi wali thi, lekin kya hai ki ek dusre ko thoda fine tune karna padta hai. (laughs). First of all, all of them are creative people... Like Priyadarshan hai, Akshay hai yaa Sunil hai, they all are friends for many many years. "
There were a lot of doubts surrounding the announcement of Hera Pheri 3. Initially, it was reported that film-maker, Farhad Samji would be directing it rather than the director of the first two films, Priyadarshan. However, Akshay Kumar announced that the director would not be changing. But in a shocking move, Paresh Rawal had said that he won't be coming back as 'Baburao'. Following this, Akshay Kumar had sued the actor for reportedly 'sabotaging' Hera Pheri 3.
Paresh Rawal had left all the Hera Pheri fans shocked when he called his most popular portrayal of 'Baburao' a 'gale ka phanda' in an interview with The Lallantop. Despite the presence of superstars like Akshay Kumar and Suneil Shetty, Paresh Rawal had become the show-stealer of the franchise, but the actor recently revealed his frustration with the image that has been stuck to him. As an actor, he wants to explore more roles and characters, but he has been suffocatingly stuck with the image of 'Baburao', stated Paresh. The actor also said that if a filmmaker wanted, they could upscale the character. However, most people either have 'mental bankruptcy or mental lethargy to take a plunge', stated the actor.
