Pankaj Tripathi is a phenomenal actor; the audience has seen him win hearts with his performances in films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Fukrey, Bareilly Ki Barfi, and OMG 2, among others. And there is hardly anyone who is not aware of his spectacular portrayal of 'Madhav Mishra' in Criminal Justice. However, the ace actor was away from the screen for the past year and has now finally opened up about the same.

Pankaj Tripathi's work has spoken volumes about the actor's stellar skills as an actor. However, in the past year, he has been away from the limelight, reflecting on his inner growth. The actor, in a heartfelt conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, has opened up about the same and given his fans an insight into why he was absent from the red carpets and public appearances the past year.

Pankaj Tripathi faced a huge loss in August 2023. The actor had taken some time to work on himself after his father, Pandit Banaras Tiwari, passed away. He revealed that he took time off for a deep and personal journey of introspection and for the revival of his love for acting. He added that he would work for three hours six days a week, and that's why he has lost weight as well. He was quoted as saying:

"I took time off to work on myself and heal, physically and mentally. That’s why I’ve lost weight. I work out for three hours a day, six days a week. I also travelled — trips that I've been putting off for a long time."

Pankaj Tripathi's hiatus was also about breaking patterns

In the same conversation, Pankaj Tripathi revealed that the hiatus was not just about his physical and mental healing but also about stepping outside the cycle he had been a part of in the entertainment industry. He added that the break rejuvenated him, and now he is back with renewed enthusiasm for his craft. He revealed that he is at a point where he doesn't have to work for money but because he wants to be a part of something.

Pankaj Tripathi further added that there was a time when he was counting days in a project because he couldn't wait for them to be over. He revealed that this made him rethink his decisions as he loved acting and had made so many sacrifices for it. Yet somehow, he was stuck. He was quoted as saying:

"I kept telling everyone that I don't have time. But actually, that time was reserved for introspection. I'm at a point where I'm no longer working for the money. I need to do work that gives me something to look forward to. There was a time when I was counting days on projects, just waiting for them to end. And I thought — this can’t be right. I love the profession so much. I've made so many sacrifices to get here, and if I’m spending my days just waiting for shoots to wrap, then something’s wrong. That’s why I took a break."
