The amalgamation of India and Pakistan’s creative fields is not a new phenomenon. From Pakistani singers like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam singing in mainstream Bollywood movies to Mahira Khan and Saba Qamar playing leads beside Bollywood biggies like Shah Rukh Khan and Irfan Khan, respectively. So, it came as no shocker when multiple Pakistani actors were approached to essay prominent roles in Bollywood films.
One such revelation recently surfaced when Pakistani actor, Gohar Rasheed revealed that he was approached for the National award-winning film, Neerja. Gohar also divulged why he rejected the offer, which Jim Sarbh later essayed.

Sonam Kapoor starrer Neerja was a massive success not only commercially, but it was equally critically acclaimed. So much so that Sonam Kapoor won the National Award for the film. Pakistani actor, Gohar Rasheed, who has featured in several Pakistani hot dramas like Ishqiya, Jannat Se Aagay, Pardes, Laapata and more recently appeared on The Talk Talk Show, where he revealed that he was the first choice for the role of ‘Khalil’ in the movie, Neerja.
In Neerja, ‘Khalil’ was the main psychotic terrorist in the film who hijacked the aeroplane and went loggerheads with Neerja. The character was a borderline sadist and derived pleasure from killing and harming people. Gohar divulged that this was offered to him first and then, on his rejection, went to Jim Sarbh. Revealing why he rejected the role, Gohar added:

“Character jo tha who terrorist ka tha jiske binha pe meine woh character banna kaar dia. At the end of the day, you are representing your country, so woh representation jo hai, woh ek zimmadari hai jo haar performer ko feel hona chahiye, aur who responsibly handle hona chahiye.”

Gohar and Kubra have been repeatedly linked up in a romantic rendezvous, and addressing all of it in The Talk Talk Show, the Ishqiya actor revealed that there is nothing romantic going on between the two. However, Kubra is very dear to him, and he will even take a bullet for her if required. He added that not all meaningful relationships must be converted into marital unions but can stay platonic.
