Noelia Castillo Ramos shared her final message before her death

Noelia Castillo Ramos died in Barcelona on March 26, 2026, after she underwent euthanasia under Spain's assisted dying law. According to reports from Antena 3 and Marca, Noelia said she had "no doubts" about her choice. Instead, she had been certain about it from the beginning. Noelia Castillo Ramos directly addressed her family's opposition to her decision in her final message. For those unaware, her father, Geronimo, fought a legal battle against her with the support of a local religious leader, claiming her mental health might have influenced her decision to stop her. But, eventually, she won the long legal battle. The 25-year-old acknowledged that her family would find it difficult to cope up with the pain, but she believed that a family's happiness should not overtake her own life and emotional reality. In her words:

"None of my family is in favor of euthanasia. Obviously, because I'm another pillar of the family. I'm leaving, and you're staying here with all the pain. But I think, all the pain I've suffered over the years... I just want to live in peace now and stop suffering, full stop. And a father's, or a mother's, or a sister's happiness doesn't have to come before a daughter's happiness or sadness in a daughter's life."

What did Noelia Castillo Ramos' mother say about her decision to pursue Euthanasia?

In contrast to Noelia Castillo Ramos' relief over the court's decision, her mother, Yolanda Ramos, expressed both heartbreak and acceptance in her public statements. According to Spanish media outlets, she did not agree with her daughter's decision, yet she eventually chose to stand by her till Noelia allowed her. Her words reflected the difficult balance between her personal views and her unconditional support for her child. Sharing her final message for Noelia Castillo Ramos, Yolanda said:

"These are my final words if you're watching me, just in case. The last thing I can do for you is help you come to terms with it. If you can come to terms with it, without anyone taking that euthanasia away from you - if you can come to terms with it, and you want to do it, I'm here with you. Just as I'll be there for the bad times, I'll also be there for the very good times."
