Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia is well known among the audience for her stint on the popular television show, Choti Sarrdaarni. Now, she has taken a significant step in her career with her Punjabi film debut with Shaunki Sardar alongside Guru Randhawa and Babby Maan. However, prior to making the big switch, she lost out on a big opportunity to star opposite Diljit Dosanjh.
Nimrit Kaur sat for a candid conversation with the Hindustan Times and revealed she was offered an opportunity to star against the ace singer and actor, Diljit Dosanjh. However, due to her schedule on the television series, she had to back away from the project. Nimrit recalled how the film producer was inclined to cast her and stated:
"I was getting a lot of Punjabi film offers right after Miss India and even when I was doing Choti Sardarni and posting my reality shows. But I missed out on some projects because of date issues. I remember I was supposed to be a part of a Diljit Dosanjh film, and the producer at that time was very inclined to take me."
In the same conversation, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia revealed that the shoot for Diljit Dosanjh's film took place during the COVID-19 pandemic, and they needed 40 days for the shoot. However, considering her prior commitments with Choti Sarrdaarni, she could only spare 15 days, which didn't work for the makers. She added how it can be extremely difficult working on other projects while being a part of the TV industry and stated:
"The shoot was happening during Covid, and I remember I had to be in Canada, and they wanted 40 days for the shoot. I could only give 15 days because I was shooting for Choti Sarrdaarni, and you know how, in television industry, you cannot pull out too many projects."
In the same conversation, Nimrit Kaur revealed that though she missed out on working with Diljit Dosnajh, she got Shaunki Sardar because of that film's producers. She shared that the producer of that film, Pawan Gill, recommended her to the director of Shaunki Sardar. She added that it was only then that he got in touch with her and narrated the film. She added that she auditioned for the film and was later luckily selected. She further talked about the love she had been receiving and stated:
"Somewhere, my nature is such that I am always thinking of the next goal. Even my mom told me, 'You should pause and relish these moments'. I don't think I have had the time to do that. But definitely, it’s very motivating when people appreciate your work. For an actor, it’s very important to get appreciated for your craft. It’s feeling surreal."
Nimrit shared that her family was thrilled about her collaboration with Babbu Maan. She added that the actor appreciated her work in the film. Nimirt also talked about the challenges of transitioning from television to films and revealed that the biggest challenge for her was the preconceived notion people had of her. She stated how some people would only look at her as a TV actor, while others only saw her talents. Nimrit added how the team of Shaunki Sardar only saw her merit and did not stereotype her.
