Muzammil Ibrahim DATED Deepika Padukone For 2 Years, 'My First Actual Relationship...She Proposed'

Actor-model Muzammil Ibrahim is grabbing headlines with a startling revelation in a recent interview. The actor shared during a candid revelation that he was in a relationship with Deepika Padukone. His revelation has come as a surprise to most fans in the film industry. Muzammil disclosed that he and Deepika dated for two years during their early days in Mumbai, long before the latter became one of Indian cinema’s most sought-after stars.

Muzammil revealed that Deepika Padukone proposed to him first

Muzammil Ibrahim rose to fame through modelling, music videos, and his remarkable debut performance in Dhokha. The actor recently had a heartfelt conversation with Siddharth Kannan on his YouTube channel. During the interview, the Special Ops actor shared that his romance with Bollywood’s ‘It’ girl, Deepika, began when she had just moved to Mumbai to pursue her modelling career. It was, in fact, the Pathaan actress who had proposed to Muzammil first. Recalling their meeting, the actor shared:

“We dated during our modelling days. We did a show for Tommy Hilfiger together. And she had seen me in Gladrags, Pardesiya, and all of that, and liked me a lot. That is how we met. We dated for two years… It was my first actual relationship. Deepika proposed to me first.”

Muzammil remembers cutesy rickshaw dates with Deepika

While Muzammil was already an actor, Deepika's career was just getting started. Remembering their modest beginnings, the actor painted a nostalgic picture of their time together, including their cutesy dates on rickshaws. Remembering one sweet memory, Muzammil recalled the time Deepika asked the auto rickshaw driver to play her favourite song, and it played on repeat for 1.5 hours. In his words:

"We both were very young at that time, and it used to feel extremely sweet how we would roam around in auto rickshaws while it rained in the city. I remember this, once, I had asked the driver to play her favourite song, and for 1.5 hours, he only played that song. She was so happy.”

Muzammil says he and Deepika have lost contact since her marriage

However, after two years of serious dating, Muzammil called it quits, but they remain good friends to this day. Now that Deepika is a global star and known by everyone, Muzammil feels nothing but happy for her, adding that he’s a big fan of the actress. 

Regarding whether or not they talk still, the Dhokha actor shared that they used to talk sometimes before Deepika’s marriage to Ranveer Singh, and they remained good friends who hyped each other up. He was quoted as saying:

"We broke up because I left her, but I don't regret it… She was a model, but I had become an actor already. She is a superstar now. Everyone knows her, nobody knows me. I am a big fan. I love her work, and I feel really happy when I see her doing good in life. I have spent so much time with her, I always want to see her happy… Before her wedding, we would talk sometimes, and she was always very sweet. We didn't become friends immediately after our breakup, but eventually, we got in touch again. We would congratulate each other on our achievements, and always hyped each other up.”

Deepika went on to become one of Bollywood’s top actresses with blockbusters like Om Shanti Om, Piku, Padmaavat, and Pathaan. In 2018, the diva married her long-time partner, Ranveer Singh, in a private ceremony in Italy after dating for nearly seven years. The couple welcomed their baby girl, Dua, in September 2024.
