Munawar Faruqui Drops TRAILER Of His Web-Series, 'First Copy', Fans Say, 'Munawar The King'

Popular comedian and reality show winner, Munawar Faruqui is all set to enter the world of acting with his upcoming web-series, First Copy, which will release on June 20, 2025, on OTT platform, Amazon MX Player. The story is about 'Arif', a young man who enters the world of film piracy. The trailer of the web-series dropped on June 16, 2025, and is already generating buzz for showing a different side of Munawar Faruqui. 

The plot of Munawar Faruqui’s First Copy

First Copy takes viewers back to the 1990s in Mumbai, a time when film piracy was spreading a lot. People used to record movies from theatres or original tapes and sell cheap copies on CDs, and cassettes. The story follows 'Arif' (played by Munawar Faruqui), a young boy with big dreams who enters this illegal trade to make money. What starts as a small hustle soon turns into a full-blown business, and Arif rises to become a key player in the piracy world. But with success comes danger. Soon, the police, actors, and criminals all get involved, leading to tense and dramatic moments. The trailer gives a strong '90s feel with old streets, posters, and local shops. 

Munawar Faruqui’s journey from stand-up comedy to acting

Munawar Faruqui is well-known for his fun and relatable stand-up comedy. He gained widespread popularity after winning Lock Upp in 2022, followed by Bigg Boss 17, where his honesty and natural personality won the hearts of many. Munawar was born in Junagadh, Gujarat, in 1992, and his early life was filled with challenges as he lost his mother at a young age and took on small jobs to support his family. Apart from comedy, he also stepped into the music industry, releasing rap songs that reflected his personal experiences. Now, he is stepping into acting, marking a new chapter in his life.

First Copy will be available for free on Amazon MX Player starting from June 20, 2025. The web-series is directed by Farhan P. Zamma and produced by Amazon MX Player. Along with Munawar, the series features Krystle D’Souza, Gulshan Grover, Saquib Ayub and Ashi Singh in important roles. Together, they bring a strong mix of drama and emotion. The show hopes to connect with both young and older audiences who remember the '90s well. 

Fans reaction of the trailer of First Copy

The trailer received a good response online. Fans can’t wait to see the fun-loving Munawar in a serious role. Many said he looked confident and convincing in the trailer. Viewers also liked the '90s setting and how the story shows the impact of piracy in those times.
