Mukul Dev passed away on May 23, 2025, in New Delhi. His passing has left the film and television industry and his well-wishers in absolute shock and sadness. The actor, who was known for his versatile roles in the movie and TV world, has left his fans in a cast shadow of grief. His fans and friends have been pouring in on social media to share their condolences. Amid that, an interview with Mukul has resurfaced on the internet, which shows how brokenhearted he was after his parents' passing.
It was in 2020 when Mukul Dev sat for an interview with Nandini Sen and revealed how his father's passing has impacted him. For the unversed, Mukul's father, Hari Dev, was a respected Assistant Commissioner of Police and passed away in 2019. The actor shared a close bond with his parents and had often opened up about them. However, this interview captured a child's grief over losing his parent. Mukul was quoted as saying:
"I have not really mastered the art of being at peace with everything happening around me. They say that when you are at peace with everything, you start seeing things as they are...that’s when you are enlightened. Relationships are a sure-fire test of that."
In a conversation with Spotboye, Mukul Dev has opened up about how much his father influenced him and his brother, Rahul Dev. He revealed that his father instilled many good qualities in both of them. He added that for a long time, Hari wanted both his kids to join the Indian Police Service. "I will never forget my father receiving gallantry awards for his courage. There was one particular award he received for saving an entire police station in Daryaganj, which was surrounded and about to be set on fire. He went there alone, managed the mob, and was honoured with a gallantry award for that. That’s something I remember very well."
Mukul Dev, in several conversations, has opened up about how he drew spiritual strength from his mother. He had been extremely vocal about how she introduced him to Buddhism, the Lotus Sutra, and the Mystic Law. In one of his conversations, he even mentioned how, during the pandemic, he would eat his mother's home-cooked Punjabi food, one of the few comforts during a period of personal isolation.
Losing his mother was the hardest thing Mukul Dev had to face; remembering his mother, he made a post on Instagram which read, "Souls we all are, always meeting you on the other side. Will miss you until then, Ma." Speaking about her unwavering support, Mukul once said:
