In the media industry, whenever a star is captured by the paparazzi, fans and viewers pre-assume that the celebrity called them, otherwise, it is not possible. Recently, television actress, Mouni Roy, who is known for her powerful performance in shows like Naagin, Showtime, and more, opened up about the pap culture and said that sometimes paps recognise the vehicle and follow the celeb.
Recently, the Naagin actress, Mouni Roy sat down for a candid conversation with Hindustan Times, in which she revealed that it’s true that celebrities call the paps to capture them, but that is not the case every time. She mentioned that the paparazzi are familiar with the vehicles' of celebrities, and there are times when they follow the vehicle. She also said that she has also called paps, but not all the time. In her words:
"They are there, especially because if we are here in Bandra, they know your cars and where you’re going. Sometimes, the restaurants or places you go to want to promote themselves. I am not saying I never call paps. But I call them when I need to be or want to be spotted, and I am dressed well. If I am promoting a film or a show, it’s a very different thing. But every day, no!"
She further continued that calling the paparazzi everyday is not possible as one cannot look good all the time. It will be very tiring if you call them everyday to capture your daily activities. She explained:
"It’s really taxing, because you can’t look nice all the time, and can’t be at your best every time."
In an interview with News18, Showtime actress, Mouni Roy revealed that she has always been typecast. She mentioned that whenever she appeared on a show, viewers used to say something about her. When she did Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, people used to say that she can't do glamorous roles, and later when she looked glamorous on dance reality shows, people felt she was too glamorous. In her words:
"I have been typecast since the beginning of my career. When I did Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, people said the girl next door can’t play a glam part. When I did a few reality shows, dance reality shows, they said I was too glamorous. When I did Sati, they said I was too Indian. When I did Naagin, it was she can only do fantasy fiction or mythological shows. That’s something I’ve always dealt with."
Mouni Roy began her acting journey with the popular TV show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She then went on to do the show, Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev, which gave her some popularity. In 2014, she appeared in the dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 7, where she got wider fame. She became a household name with the show, Naagin. Recently, she appeared in the hit film, Brahmastra Part One: Shiva, and the web show, Showtime, alongside Emraan Hashmi.

In her personal life, Mouni Roy is married to businessman, Suraj Nambiar. She got married in 2022, in a beautiful and traditional wedding ceremony. She often keeps her personal life private, and low-key, but does share glimpses on her social media.
