Mohanlal's Wife, Suchitra Used A Secret Code Name For The Actor While Stalking Him Before Marriage

Mohanlal’s fan following certainly has no limits, as the actor enjoys a God-like status in the Malayalam film industry. Lovingly called ‘laal ettan’, he is the epitome of perfection. From romance and comedy to power-packed action, there is no genre that he cannot do. Mohanlal made his acting debut at the mere age of 18 with the 1978 film, Thiranottam. Since the film got delayed, he made his screen debut with the film, Manjil Virinja Pookkal, where he played an antagonist.

A one-man army, Mohanlal has changed the face of Indian cinema with more than 400 films to his credit. The five-time National Award winner, Mohanlal proved his versatility as an actor with films like Iruvar, Kireedam, Vanaprastham, Thazhvaram, Devasuram, Pulimurugan, Drishyam, Oppam, Lucifer, L2: Empuraan and many more.

We all know that Mohanlal enjoys a lot of female attention as he is still considered the romantic hero of Mollywood, who can give any actor a run for his money. But do you know that his wife, Suchitra, too, had a huge crush on him before their marriage, and she used to be one of his biggest fans? Read on to know how she used a secret code name for him.

Mohanlal’s wife, Suchitra stalked him before marriage

It was Mohanlal’s impeccable acting, which attracted Suchitra towards him. For the unversed, Suchitra is the daughter of K. Balaji, one of the most popular actors and producers of his time. He was a Tamil actor, and later in his life, he turned into a producer.

Just like millions of Mohanlal’s fans, Suchitra, too, was a fan of his work. Since Suchitra was getting a lot of marriage proposals, she expressed her love for Mohanlal to her mother. Suchitra suggested her father speak to actress, Sukumari, who connected Suchitra with Mohanlal.

After meeting each other, the duo fell in love. And just like a fangirl, she stalked him and even used to send him cards, letters and flowers without attaching her name to them.

Mohanlal’s wife, Suchitra kept a secret code name for him

In an interaction with Rekha Menon, Suchitra once talked about the secret code name that she kept for him, which she doubts he knows about. Talking about the same, Suchitra recalled seeing Mohanlal for the first time at a wedding in Thiruvananthapuram. The actor looked dapper in a maroon shirt and swept Suchitra off her feet with his charming personality. The star wife kept a secret code name for the actor, which was ‘SKP’, short form for ‘Sundara Kuttappan’, which means a charming man.

Suchitra hated Mohanlal initially

Mohanlal started his career by playing negative roles. When Suchitra saw one or two films in which Mohanlal played the role of a villain, she started hating him. However, later, she realised that he was so good at his job that one could not separate the character from him. Suchitra once talked about the same and said:

“When I saw him in the first movie Manjil Virinja Pookkal, I hated him. I used to hate him whenever he featured the role of a villain. But I knew that I disliked him because he was so perfect in his job. After watching 'Ente Mammattikuttiyammakku', I started to like him. Slowly, I fell in love with him and we got married. Today, he is my favourite actor."

On April 28, 1988, Mohanlal and Suchitra got married, and it was only after his marriage that the actor emerged as one of the biggest stars in India. He often credits his wife, Suchitra for his humongous success in the industry. The couple has two children, Pranav Mohanlal and Vismaya.
