'Guddu Bhaiya' Is Back 'Mirzapur: The Film' Soon To Start Shoot In Mumbai Completes Banaras Schedule

It’s finally happening! Fans of Amazon Prime Video’s cult series Mirzapur have reason to celebrate as Mirzapur: The Film is officially in progress. The film adaptation of one of India’s most popular OTT franchises has completed its first major shooting schedule in Banaras and is now gearing up for its next phase in Mumbai, set to begin in early November.

Mirzapur: The Film Banaras shoot wrapped up

According to reports, the Banaras schedule captured several key scenes featuring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Shweta Tripathi Sharma (Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit, and Golu), respectively, all reprising their iconic roles from the original series. The unit filmed across some of Varanasi’s most recognisable locations, including the ghats and crowded bazaars that have long defined the show’s rustic aesthetic. The makers wanted to preserve the authentic heartland vibe that made Mirzapur a household name.

Pankaj Tripathi, who plays the cunning yet composed ‘Kaleen Bhaiya’, reportedly shot several major scenes during this leg. Meanwhile, Ali Fazal’s ‘Guddu Pandit’, who has become a symbol of vengeance and rebellion, also features prominently in sequences filmed across the city. Shweta Tripathi Sharma’s ‘Golu (Gajgamini) Gupta’, now a hardened and strategic player in the Mirzapur universe, had some of her most crucial scenes filmed here as well.

The next phase of Mirzapur: The Film will start in November

With the Banaras schedule wrapped up, the Mirzapur team is shifting gears to Mumbai for the next shooting phase, which was supposed to start right after Diwali. The schedule involves large indoor sets that mimic the interiors of Mirzapur. The Mumbai schedule will also feature several ensemble cast members, including Rasika Dugal, Harshita Gaur, Anjum Sharma, and others. New faces will join the cast, potentially expanding the story beyond the familiar power struggles that fans have seen so far.

Divyendu Sharma, who plays the role of ‘Munna Bhaiya,’ is set to return despite his on-screen death in Mirzapur Season 2. Jannat actor Sonal Chauhan, joined the cast of Mirzapur: The Film. She announced on social media, while expressing gratitude towards Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. At the same time, Jitendra Kumar will replace Vikrant Massey as ‘Bablu Pandit.’
