Slowly and gradually, their friendship blossomed into love. By late 2014, the two had started dating; however, they kept their relationship private and grounded.

On December 30, 2025, Mel Gibson and Rosalind Ross announced their separation in a joint statement. During the same, they revealed that even though they feel bad while ending their relationship, they are grateful to all the good memories they made together. They further mentioned that they will continue to co-parent their 8-year-old son, Lars. In the joint statement, Mel Gibson and Rosalind Ross shared:

"Although it’s sad to end this chapter in our lives, we are blessed with a beautiful son and will continue to be the best parents possible."

Mel Gibson has a total of nine children

For those who do not know, Lars Gibson wasn't the first child of the actor-director. Over the years, Mel Gibson has been in a couple of relationships. He was first married to Robyn Moore in 1980. Reportedly, the couple were together for nearly three decades. They parted ways in 2006. During their marriage, they welcomed seven children- a daughter, Hannah and six sons, Christian, Edward, William, Louis, Milo and Thomas. 

After their separation, Mel got into a relationship with Russian songwriter, Oksana Grigorieva. The ex-couple embraced parenthood with a daughter, Lucia. Years later, in 2017, he welcomed Lars with Rosalind Ross. It is worth mentioning that over the years, Mel Gibson has often spoken fondly about fatherhood.
