Meghalaya Honeymoon Case: Accused Wife, Sonam's Father SUPPORTS Daughter, Asks For CBI Probe

Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam Raghuvanshi, who were on their honeymoon trip to Meghalaya, are in the headlines. After they went missing on May 23, 2025. Soon, their families lodged a missing complaint at the local police station, and within a few days, they found Raja's body. Later, reports claimed that it was his wife, Sonam, who had hired killers to murder her husband, and it was admitted by her in her statement. But she changed her words later and denied it all. Now, her father is supporting her and asking for a CBI probe into the matter. 

Sonam Raghuvanshi's father requested a CBI probe 

Sonam's father supported his daughter and claimed that it was the Meghalaya police who were forcing her to take the blame on herself. He added that the police had not investigated the matter, and he requested a CBI probe as the police's involvement is there in the case. He said:

"Mereko Sonam ka pata Govind se chala hai. Uska phone aaya tha ki Sonam apne ko mil gayi hai. Toh Ghaziabad koi hotel thi waha par, hotel wale se phone laga kar uske bhai ko bulaya. Uske bhai se baat hui hai phone par, iske baad subah 5 baje humko pata chala hai."

The father further added that he wasn't able to talk to his daughter, Sonam, but her husband's brother had gone there. He further revealed that it was an arranged marriage. They had booked a garden for the couple. The family was happy with their union, and so were the kids. The father also stated that his daughter worked in an office and would go with her brother, and she didn't have any affairs. 

The father revealed that Sonam called her brother, Govind, late in the night at 2. She video-called him and asked him to save her. Soon, Govind called the police station, and they took Sonam into custody. He stated that the police were trying to make false allegations against her. 

Meghalaya honeymoon murder case

Raja Raghuvanshi and Sonam Raghuvanshi recently got married and were on their honeymoon in Meghalaya. However, they went missing within a few days of their trip. Later, Raja's body was discovered with a murder weapon. Police arrested three assailants from Madhya Pradesh. And Sonam had surrendered before the police. The CM, Conrad Sangma, in a post, confirmed the same and wrote:

"Within 7 days, a major breakthrough has been achieved by the Meghalaya Police in the Raja murder case… 3 assailants who are from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, female has surrendered, and the operation is still on to catch one more assailant."

Sonam made a U-turn from her statement

According to the reports, Sonam changed her plea in her first statement after being detained. She claimed that she had no role in the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi. Sonam revealed that she was abducted, and later, she was abandoned in Ghazipur, where she was later detained at a dhaba by the police authorities.
