Smita Prakash, whom we currently see in a podcast show titled ANI Podcast with Smita Prakash, is a veteran journalist. Back in January 2019, an interview with India’s Prime minister, Narendra Modi, got widespread attention. Not only the interview, but also the journalist from ANI who conducted the interview left a lasting impression on the public. The journalist was none other than Smita. Currently, she is the editor-in-chief of ANI.

Smita has been part of the longest-running South African TV show, This Week in India. Apart from being a prominent journalist, Smita is a trained classical dancer. Her father, I. Smita joined the news agency back in 1986 as an intern. Later, she became a full-time employee. For the unversed, ANI was founded by popular veteran journalist, Prem Prakash in 1971. Now, Smita holds the Editor-in-chief position of the news agency and Prem is the chairperson.

She hosted the show, This Week in India, South Africa’s longest-running show. According to a Stars Unfolded report, she is one of the two Indian journalists who attended a high-profile press conference between the prime ministers of India and the US in 2005. Even after 39 years, Smita is still active in her journalism profession and is a well-known face of the news agency, ANI.

She also interviewed social activist and politician, Swati Maliwal.
