One such name who rose from Marathi shows and ended up becoming a household name is Priya Marathe, who recently died after battling cancer.

Shantanu Moghe is a popular face in Marathi cinema and television. Shantanu grew up in Maharashtra and comes from an acting background. His father, Shrikant Moghe, was also a respected stage and performer. He had worked in Marathi theatre and his passion for acting shaped Shantanu's interest in acting from an early age.
Shantanu began his career in the Marathi industry. He started with theatre and television before shifting towards films. He gained a decent amount of fame and experience with TV and regional film roles during the 2000s and 2010s. He appeared in serials and Marathi films like Ya Sukhano Ya, Trusha, Chhabu Palali Sasarla, Rannbhoomi and more. These projects helped him establish his place in the acting industry. In 2021, he also appeared in a short film, Enigma – The Fallen Angel, alongside Ananya Raj, Yatin Karyekar, Ruchita Jadhav and more.
In his long career, two projects gave him wider fame and recognition. One was a Marathi TV show, Swarajyarakshak Sambhaji, in which he played an important Maratha-period character. The other project was a 2023 Marathi film, Ravrambha, which was a period film, that received a lot of appreciation in 2023. Despite getting roles in serials and films, he continued to be part of theatre, where he performed in plays. In his career till now, he has won several awards and honours.

Shantanu Moghe and Priya Marathe's relationship began as friends that soon blossomed into love. Both of them worked in the same industry and knew each other because of a common social circle. Reportedly, they met through common friends and became friends and gradually that friendship deepened into love. After years of friendship, the duo tied the knot on April 24, 2012. In an old interview, Priya said:
"Shantanu and I have been friends for a long time. We decided to take our relationship to the next level. Yesterday on the auspicious occasion of Akshaytritiya we got married in Pune."
According to multiple Hindi and Marathi reports, the duo got married in an intimate and private wedding ceremony, which was attended only by their close friends and family. After their beautiful marriage, the couple kept their married life away from social media. They only shared their travel photos on social media, nothing more than that. In an interview with Marathimovieworld.com, Priya had spoken about her marriage and said:
"I am glad that I have got such a nice family. They all encourage me and offer guidance. We also have discussions on many other subjects."
According to Priya and Shantanu's Instagram handle, the couple travelled a lot after their marriage. They often shared photos from their trip. Priya described Shantanu as her 'travel partner' in one of her Instagram posts, in which the duo had visited Amer Fort in Jaipur. Apart from that, the duo remained focused on their individual acting careers and appeared in several hit shows and films, both Marathi and Hindi.
Priya Marathe, who was best known for her role as 'Varsha' in the popular show, Pavitra Rishta, passed away on August 31, 2025, at the age of 38. The main reason for her death was her long battle with cancer. Reportedly, she was battling cancer for almost a year and breathed her last at her residence in Mira Road. Reportedly, in the past few months, Priya's condition had worsened, from which she was unable to recover.
In her professional life, Priya Marathe has appeared in several hit serials like Pavitra Rishta, Kasamh Se, Bade Acche Lagte Hain, Char Disan Sasuche, Tu Tithe Mi, Swarajyarakshak Sambhaji, Ya Sukhano Ya, Saath Nibhaana Saathiya and more. Apart from being an actress, she was also a stand-up comedian, who had appeared in Comedy Circus.
