As the Los Angeles Rams quarterback, Matthew Stafford continues to make a mark in the NFL with his on-field performances, his wife, Kelly, opened up about facing a difficult phase of her life. The 36-year-old podcaster and mom of four has announced that she is stepping away from her popular podcast show, The Morning After, for a month to focus on her mental health, which is also an unexpected decision for her NFL star husband. Amid this sudden announcement, here is everything you must know about Kelly Stafford.
Kelly Stafford is not just another popular NFL wife or a Super Bowl-winning quarterback. Professionally, she is a registered nurse, podcaster, and a brave brain tumour survivor. Kelly earned her nursing degree from the University of Georgia and became a registered nurse in 2014. Soon, she rose to the spotlight after Matthew's career began to take off. Kelly, also co-hosts The Morning After podcast, started back in 2021. The vision behind the podcast was to make something she described as 'a community that accepts failure and supports one another instead of judging each other'.
During the last few years, she has built a loyal listener base for herself. They admire her honest conversations about Motherhood, marriage, and mental health. In April 2019, Kelly shocked her fans after she revealed that she was diagnosed with a benign brain tumour, also known as an acoustic neuroma, in a heartfelt Instagram post. According to the post, she had undergone a 12-hour surgery to remove it. After the complicated procedure, Kelly expressed gratitude for 'being alive' and credited Matthew's unconditional support throughout the journey.
Kelly and Matthew Stafford's love story goes back to their college days when they met at the University of Georgia. Matthew was already playing for the Georgia Bulldogs, whereas Kelly was a cheerleader. However, it was not everything rosy for the couple. Kelly once opened up about the phase on her podcast and revealed that she had briefly dated Matthew's backup quarterback to make him jealous." They tied the knot in a private, phone-free ceremony in 2015. Later, they welcomed four daughters, twins, Sawyer, Chandler with Hunter, and Tyler. The four girls are often seen cheering for their dad at Rams games. Crediting his family for his success, Matthew once told PEOPLE:
"I wouldn't be here if it weren't for them."
Early in October 2025, during one of the episodes of The Morning After, Kelly shared with her audience that she would take a month-long break from the show to focus on her mental well-being. She admitted that she has been dealing with some mental health issues for some time now, and it is taking a lot of energy. Kelly added that even her husband was unaware of her decision, but she needed to do it for herself. Incidentally, Fox2 Detroit reported that her decision came after her co-host Hank Winchester returned after an internal investigation into allegations made against him. In her words:

"I've been struggling with where I see this thing going. I love it, but not as much as my husband and my four daughters. It's been taking more time than I wanted it to. This will come as a surprise to him. But I need to do this for myself and for everyone around me."
While Kelly Stafford will take some time to rest and sort out the next chapter of her life during the break, all eyes will be on Matthew when the Los Angeles Rams take the field.
