MasterChef Australia: Judge Gordon Ramsay's Family Life, Cookbook Author Wife, 6 Kids In 25 Years

MasterChef Australia judge, Gordon Ramsay is a celebrity chef who is globally popular for his frank judgement and short temper in the kitchen. However, there is a lesser-known side of the chef when it comes to his family. Gordon is a loving father to his six kids, who have him wrapped around their fingers. Meanwhile, his love story with Tana Ramsay and their 29 years of happy marriage is a testament to their commitment to each other. Tana also once said that even after almost 3 decades of marriage, she still gets butterflies whenever she sees her husband, Gordon. 

Tana Ramsay was engaged to someone else when she first met Gordon Ramsay 

Tana and Gordon had a very unconventional start to their love story. The pair met at New Year's Eve party when Tana was in her early 20s. She was also engaged to someone else and had a very bad impression of Gordon after their first meet, reported The Guardian. Tana thought he was a 'complete arrogant a**se'. However, after a few years, they met again, and she was single at that time. 

Tana was sharing a flat with a mutual friend of Gordon Ramsay. One day, he stopped by to pick up his bike, which he had stored in their flat's garage. Then fate took its course as both of them connected really well this time and started dating each other soon after. After a successful few years of dating, the couple finally tied the knot in 1996 and have been together ever since. 

Gordon Ramsay said that date nights are crucial for him and Tana Ramsay 

Gordon Ramsay and Tana's love for each other is as fresh as the day they first fell in love. Talking to People magazine, Tana Ramsay said that even after decades of marriage, she still felt butterflies when she saw her husband. The celebrity chef also stated to the same magazine that date nights were crucial for him and his wife to keep the spark alive. Gordon said in his own words:

“Date nights are crucial, whether it's the cinema, whether it's going out for a drive. We have a little time, but it's quality, and so that is really important."

Tana and Gordon Ramsay have six children, with an age gap of 25 years between the first and the last borns

Tana and Gordon Ramsay have six kids, three boys and three girls. In 1998 they first welcomed a daughter, Megan. Gordon was a proud father the day she graduated from the Oxford Brookes University. In 2000, the couple welcomed twins, Holly (daughter) and Jack (son). Holly is a model and content creator, while her twin, Jack, is a part of the Royal Marines, UK's commando force. Then welcomed another daughter, Maltida, nicknamed as Tilly, in 2001. She followed in her father's footsteps and is a budding celebrity chef herself. 

After four children, Tana and Gordon Ramsay became parents again after many years and welcomed little Oscar Ramsay in 2019. However, Tana has bravely opened up about her miscarriage before Oscar, and the following fertility issues she faced. Then in 2023, the couple embraced parenthood for the sixth time and announced the arrival of their son, Jesse James Gordon. After Jesse, Gordon stated with humour that their done expanding their family. Tana announced the birth of their baby boy on social media and wrote:

"It's been a nerve wracking 9 months but we’ve made it and we have been blessed with this little bundle. Ramsay family definitely complete. Jesse James Ramsay we love you so much."

Tana Ramsay and Gordon Ramsay both share a passion for food 

Gordon Ramsay might be the most popular chef in the world and has even celebrities coveting for his hand-cooked food, however in his own home, everyone prefers Tana Ramsay's cooking. Both husband and wife are equally passionate about food, and Tana has also authored 5 cookbooks. Her first book was published in 2006 called Tana Ramsay's Family Kitchen. 

However, in an interview with Toronto CityNews, Tana Ramsay revealed that she is not a trained chef and is not as fast in the kitchen as her husband. However, she cooks 'real family food', and that is what Gordon also prefers when he eats at home. Tana also revealed that she would get comfort and security from home-cooked meals as a child and that is what she also wanted to do for her family. Tana Ramsay said in the interview:

"I've never been trained as a chef. I take forever to chop an onion or a carrot compared to Gordon, but it's my way of real family food. Our dishes are completely different, and it's the home cooking he wants when he's at home."

Tana Ramsay is great friends with Victoria Beckham 

Tana and Gordon Ramsay are great family friends with former footballer, David Beckham and his popular and former pop star wife, Victoria. The Beckhams are also a bug family with 4 children. Gordon Ramsay once revealed in an interview with The Sun, that getting their children through school and college and being decent parents was what connected the two families. Tana Ramsay also called Victoria a 'true friend' when she penned down a post for her 50th birthday in 2024. The cookbook author wrote for Victoria:

"Happy happy birthday to a very special person in my life @victoriabeckham you are a true friend who has been the most amazing support and inspiration and most importantly we have the best fun x I love you so much, have the best day!!!"
