Sreenivasan's Love Story With Vimala, Duo Met At Bus Stop, Her Dad Thought The Actor Would Leave Her

Famous Malayalam actor, Sreenivasan passed away on December 20, 2025, after suffering from a sudden medical emergency. The actor reportedly received treatment at his home for his long-term illness, and on December 20, 2025, he bid farewell to the world. The actor is survived by his wife, Vimala, and their two sons, Vineeth and Dhyan.

As per a report by Mathrubhumi, Sreenivasan was suffering from age-related cardiac ailments at his residence in Udayamperoor, and just a while before he passed away, he was being transported for a scheduled dialysis, and it was during that moment only when his health condition worsened and following this, he was admitted to a hospital in Thrippunithura, wherein he was announced as dead. Sreenivasan's passing sparked a sense of grief around and amid this, let's have a look at his love story with his loving wife, Vimala, who has been by her husband's side through thick and thin. If the reports are to be believed, Sreenivasan passed away silently, with his wife, Vimala, by his side.

Malayalam actor, Sreenivasan's love story with Vimala: The duo met at a bus stop

In an interview with The New Indian Express, Vimala shared her love story with Sreenivasan. The duo used to meet each other on the same road on her way to Nirmalagiri College in Kuthuparambu, in Kannur district. Vimala would often see a 'short-dark' man heading in the same direction as her, and he would often ask her about the bus timing and about her well-being.

Sreenivasan's dating life with Vimala and their wedding after 10 years

Vimala would reply in monosyllables, and eventually, after a year of the same, the duo started talking to each other. Sreenivasan, who was a teacher in a tutorial college, began his romance with Vimala in 1974, and they liked each other from the very beginning. Vimala was aware of Sreenivasan's passion for acting, and there came a moment when he told her that he would go to Chennai to pursue an acting course.

Sreenivasan's father was not in support of him being an actor, and thus, he was not provided with any money. Sreenivasan would write letters to Vimala, sharing his financial issues, and his uncle would send the then-aspiring actor money to help him with his course. Vimala recalled the same and revealed to The New Indian Express:

"Since his father did not accept his choice of career, he would not send much money. Sreenivasan’s father wanted him to do B.Ed and become a teacher. However, one of his uncles sent him a little bit of money and he managed to complete the course. My father felt that my husband would go after actresses and ruin my life."

When Sreenivasan completed his course and returned, Vimala was already a trained teacher. The couple decided to get married, and Vimala had to talk to her dad about the same, who was not in support of his daughter marrying an actor, thinking Sreenivasan would soon go after any actress. Well, Vimala was adamant about marrying Sreenivasan, and it was after 10 years of their romance that the couple tied the knot on January 13, 1984. Soon after, they welcomed their first son, Vineeth, and back then, the actor was struggling to make a mark in the industry. Following this, Sreenivasan starred in the movie, and he scripted Oodarathuammava Aalariyam, following which, there was no looking back.

How was Malayalam actor, Sreenivasan as a husband to Vimala?

In the same interview with The New Indian Express, Sreenivasan's wife, Vimala shared that she was very happy in her personal life, and her husband was someone who would never say 'no' to anything that she used to like. She explained how her friends' husbands would put restrictions, while her husband would give her full freedom to do whatever she wanted, like wearing a salwar kameez, even when he liked her best in a saree.

Vimala went on to explain that her husband, Sreenivasan, was extremely humble, and the more he became famous, the more humble life made him. She added that her husband was very innocent at heart, and he hadn't changed ever for a tiny bit since college days. She also shared that if any issues happen on the professional front, then only Sreenivasan would get angry. She could be quoted as saying:

"His character has not changed at all from the time I knew him during my college days. In fact, the more successful he has become, the more humble he is in his personal life. Please don’t think I am praising him just because he is my husband. He is very innocent at heart. But if there are any mistakes made on the professional front, Sreeni Chettan can get very tough and angry."

As Sreenivasan took care of the family, his wife, Vimala, was the one to take care of his well-being, and thus, she could understand the need to provide a happy atmosphere to an artist at home, which would help him in the professional space as well. Vimala revealed how she would take care of their kids all by her own even when they would be sick, as she didn't want to disturb her husband, who was so much into his work. This proves that the strength of Vimala and Sreenivasan's love story was made by mutual understanding, where he provided security and she became the glue to hold everything together.
