Mahima Choudhary is one of the most prominent actresses of Bollywood in the '90s. She made a permanent place in everyone’s heart with her debut film, Pardes. She was called the next big thing in Bollywood. However, her dreams came crashing down when she had a horrific accident while shooting for her film, Dil Kya Kare.
Not just her professional life, but Mahima’s personal life was marred by controversies as well. The actress had dated Tennis star, Leander Paes, but after some time, the two had broken up. After the breakup, Mahima married Kolkata-based architect, Bobby Mukherjee on March 19, 2006. However, her marriage too had a lot of troubles and ended in an ugly divorce.

When Mahima met Bobby, he was a divorcee and was considering giving marriage a second shot. After her marriage to Bobby, Mahima Chaudhary embraced motherhood and became a mother to her daughter, Aryana. However, after some years of Aryana’s birth, the couple began to face difficulties in their marriage. They faced compatibility issues. She wasn’t happy with Bobby, as he was never emotionally available to her.

While Mahima was going through a turbulent marriage, the actress also underwent two miscarriages as she was not in a happy space. And even during her miscarriages, Bobby wasn’t there to emotionally support Mahima. The actress, once in a throwback interview, revealed that she didn’t tell her parents as she was worried about them.

The actress often dropped her daughter off at her mom’s place whenever she went to an event, since Bobby was nowhere to be found. Recalling how she felt comfortable at her parents’ place, Mahima revealed:

“Every time I wanted to go out and do an event, go out and do a show, I used to come drop my child at my mother's home and then I stayed back two days and I used to feel I'm so much more comfortable here.”
In 2011, Mahima Chaudhary started living away from her husband, Bobby, and the couple’s divorce was finalised in 2013. However, the actress faced another battle when she fought Bobby in court over custody of their daughter. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Mahima recalled an incident and said:
“When we separated and thinking of putting our daughter Ariana to school, we were having issues to which school we should put her, and we did not agree on anything. This happened to be another thing we were not agreeing on, and the night he was leaving for his European tour, suddenly he changed his mind and said that he has decided to put her in the school he went to. When I said no, he said he is not going to sign for it. I said, "Don't sign"."

After her divorce from Bobby, Mahima Chaudhary moved in with her parents. It was difficult for her to head out to work as there was no one to take care of her daughter, Aryana. On the other hand, her mother too was not well, and her sister too was a single parent. Speaking to Pinkvilla and recalling her difficult period during that time, Mahima shared:
“That was the time when my mother was diagnosed with an illness and that was a time when she needed help and she could not be of that great help for raising my child. So, when I left for work, it was like leaving a toddler, and leaving my mother who needed assistance as well, so I had to completely depend on my staff. Then I had a sister who had a child too and she was single. So, it almost became like we both were raising children together.”
After her debut film, Pardes, Mahima disappeared from the silver screen for 2 years. The reason for that was during the shoot of Ajay Devgn and Kajol's home production, Dil Kya Kare, Mahima had a massive accident when a truck hit her car. The glass of her car had gone mostly into her face, and in the surgery, the doctors had taken out 67 glass pieces. The devastating accident had left a deep mark on Mahima, both physically and mentally.
