“Mahesh was very clear that he wanted a non-working wife. Even if I was working in some office, he would have told me to leave work. There are certain things we had for each other.”
Since Namrata lived in apartments in Mumbai, the concept of a bungalow was new to her. So, she asked Mahesh to shift into an apartment with her after their marriage, as she didn't have the habit of living in huge houses. In her words:
“We were very clear that we will live in an apartment first after marriage because I was from Mumbai, and I didn’t know how I would fit into these huge bungalows. I used to get scared so he moved into an apartment with me. That was my condition that if I’m going to come to Hyderabad, I will live in an apartment.”
Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar met each other during the shooting of their Telugu film, Vamsi. After a brief meeting for the mahurat of the film, the two left an everlasting impression on each other. And by the time, the movie was complete, they were head-over-heels in love with each other.
In a throwback interview with the Spotboye, Namrata recalled how she had to wait for four years to get married to Mahesh as he had to win over his family. Recalling her anxious days, Namrata stated:
“It was very important for Mahesh to convince his family that I was the right wife for him. For four years, I just had to wait. We hardly met during those four years. All I had to do was wait for Mahesh to win over his family. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have my bouts of anxiety during those four years. But I was sure I wanted to marry only Mahesh. If not him, then no one else. And he was sure of it too.”
Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar are the epitome of true love. Despite two decades of marital bliss, they are still madly in love with one another.
