'Lokah Chapter 1' Reviews, Kalyani Priyadarshan's Superhero Film Gets Mixed Reactions On Twitter

Domini Arun's directorial film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, features Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in the lead roles. The Malayalam film was released in theatres on the occasion of Onam. While it is garnering positive reviews from the audience due to its star-studded cast, some have found the concept to have been seen before. 

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra storyline

The Malayalam action thriller left the audience captivated with a unique storyline, suspense and fantastical elements. It is directed by the talented director, Domini Arun. While most superhero films are inspired by Hollywood-style themes, the makers of Lokah Chapter 1 ensured that it remained rooted in a local setting, allowing viewers to relate to it. The film is rooted in Kerala mythology and folklore. 

From the start of the film, it draws us into a world that seems extremely different. It has magical hues that make it look enchanting. The film is set in Bengaluru, a city in India. The lead, Kalyani Priyadarshan, plays the role of 'Chandra' in the film. It is Malayalam cinema's first female superhero film. Kalyani beautifully handles the action sequence, and it looks almost realistic. Fans even loved her Western outfits shown in the film.

Kalyani, as 'Chandra', saves the day, leaving netizens highly impressed who saw the film on its first day of release. One user called it a 'Mollywood's strongest Pan-India film', and wrote, "#Lokah is Mollywood’s strongest Pan Indian bet. Backed by technical finesse, impactful star cameos, and action set pieces that feel like multiple Minnal Murali climaxes rolled into one, this is a true big screen spectacle."

A second one compared the film with Malayali cinema's film, Minnal Murali, and called it a good one, "#Lokah - After #MinnalMurali, Mollywood Dropped Another Good Superhero film, Interval, Cameo of Many Mollywood stars, Post Credits are Banger. Superb start for Superhero cinematic universe in Malayalam." A third user penned, "One of the best theatrical experiences in recent times! Go watch it ASAP...! Another user on X praised the director's vision and how they created the whole film, "If you’re really interested in superhero movies, this one truly works with action and entertainment. Dominic Arun’s superhero vision unites culture, depth, and creativity into an amazing cinematic experience. Every cameo sparks pure goosebumps.” A fourth netizen commented, "@DQsWayfarerFilm im begging you please please promote lokah in other states. The movie has huge huge potential to be a big pan Indian success fr. The genre itself is a star everywhere and the movie is too good for not to be a pan Indian success. Make it happen please."

The film revolves around a young woman whose world changed after she discovered that she is no ordinary girl. 'Chandra' finds that she has supernatural abilities while she is going through a personal rollercoaster. And the moment evil emerges from the earth, she has to accept her powers and destiny, the moment the world transforms. Her journey is the start of a superhero saga.
